Our family think that Gill Beck is their favourite place in the world. As its our holiday home we've tried to make it as homely as possible so its warm, cosy and pretty, with comfortable beds, in the centre of a lovely tranquil North Lakes village.
Gill Beck has the best of all worlds. Its in the centre of a proper Cumbrian village community with lots going on - pub, village shop, historic church, fabulous river or fell walks right from the door but also within easy reach of Keswick with its theatre, Bassenthwaite, Penrith, the Northern Fells and the Solway coast.
The cottage is light and airy with high ceilings (no bumped heads) and no smell of damp (so common in Lake District cottages). There is parking outside the cottage for 1 car and free parking for others in the village.
Interaction with guests
I live in Yorkshire but can be reached by telephone. Our caretaker, Jill Johnston lives the vicinity and will always be on hand to help should any problems arise (her husband is a plumber) - AND we have wonderful neighbours!
Other things to note
If you have very young children be aware that there is an unfenced beck in front of the cottage. Our small garden is at the back with a seat to rest on at the end of a strenuous day out.
We expect guests to respect the property and to leave it clean and tidy and to report any breakages please.
