Daniella's place is most beautiful, in a very peaceful place far away from the crowds. and has lovely views. The place is well furnished and comfortable. Daniella had the kitchen stocked with all ingredients for a pasta meal and nespresso which was really nice. We could pluck fresh herbs, tomatoes and spinach from the kitchen garden. It is was nice to walk up to the top of Monte Iseola (the Sanctuario) through the village Cure. We enjoyed our stay in Monte Iseola very much though it involved a lot (A LOT) of walking up and down the hill. We took sometime to understand the bus services very close to the house and soon it was time to leave, Daniela was very communicative and was easily accessible on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), even though she does not speak in English , she managed very well to communicate using translation software. It was quite late when we got there (6pm) and wished the kitchen had been stocked with some basic vegetarian breakfast foods ( cereal, bread, butter and jelly and juice ), though it was more than adequately stocked with eggs, pasta and other meal items. I think we should have asked Daniella and she would have certainly arranged for it. All in all a really nice place to stay if you want to stay away from the crowds. I would advise future residents to understand bus timings better to use the service well.
The house, and garden, and view, was AMAZING! From the yard, you could see the lake, the surrounding mountains and the "farm life" on the island itself. The house is also located right by a path to the old church atop the island. Keep in mind that the village of Masse, is really small and that there's no supermarket or anything like that. The nearest one is in the village of Silviano, by the lake shore, and the road there is quite steep – but an experience. Also, the busses are not that good or frequent. But overall: This was amazing. Great house, homegrown basil, tomatoes ... go there!
Daniela's place is a stunning, central point from which to explore Monte Isola and the surrounding lake. Daniela was very communicative. We conversed in Italian through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Translate. Daniela and her husband kindly met us from the ferry and drove us up to the house on their Vespas, which was thrilling (and back at the end of our stay). The house is in Masse, which is a small village quite high up towards the north of the island. It is secluded but quite central so the various villages can be reached on foot within around half an hour. There is a nearby bus stop, but buses to/from Masse are fairly infrequent (maybe 4 per day), so it's good to be prepared to walk up and down some relatively steep hills. The map on the airbnb site (before confirming the booking) put the blue circle by the south coast of the island, but it's worth knowing that Masse is actually inland and up towards the north. There are no shops or bars/restaurants in Masse itself, the nearest being in Siviano, which is about a 25 minute walk to the west. There you will find a small food shop, bar and pizzeria. The house itself was wonderful, with stunning views. It had everything we needed, and the hammock and vegetable patch were lovely bonuses. Daniela provided information about transport and local activities. Monte Isola is a breathtaking island with a number of lovely beaches and can be explored in 4 or 5 days. Daniela's place was a comfortable and cosy base for us.
Daniela's house is located on the top of Monte Isola, what makes it great for the landscape views that you will have from the house. The only thing that you need to know is that Monte Isola is an isolated island and you can't bring your car with you. You can only cross from Sulzano to the Island by boat (5€ a single person return ticket) and that after that you'll need to walk 1h to get to the house or take a bus (1.50€) However, the place is very calm and it has beautiful views to the lake. We highly recommend it if your plan is to stay in the island and chill.
