Where you’ll be

Trebetherick, United Kingdom

North Cornwall & The Camel Estuary - Doc Martin & Poldark Country!

Polzeath is famous for its magnificent beach. Atlantic rollers create a surfer's paradise, whilst the vast expanses of fine sand makes Polzeath the ideal location for a family holiday - as made popular by Wills and Harry.

Greenaway Beach is accessible only by foot - just 10 min. from Wesdale. Even in peak period it is quiet and great for sunning or shrimping on the rocks. At low spring tide Big Cave Bay is a must for surfing.

Daymer Bay - a favourite of the Cameron family - also has expansive sand sheltered from the surf rollers has enormous appeal for small children with buckets and spades. An excellent wind and kite surfing spot. The nearby St Enodoc Church is the final resting place of Sir John Betjeman.

Rock is one of the major watersports centres in Cornwall - sailing, windsurfing, water skiing and canoeing - and home to the famous St Enodoc Golf course. Enjoy the many cafes or take a ferry to Padstow the home of Rick Stein and his emporium.

From Padstow hire a bicycle and cycle along the shoreline on the old railway line to Wadebridge (6 miles)or on past Bodmin. Beautiful views and lots of local wildlife and seabirds to admire.

The National Trust land stretches from Polzeath to Pentire Point and round the coast to Port Quinn, Port Isaac (re-named Port Wenn for the Doc Martin TV series) and on to Tintagel. The scenery is breathtaking with wide open spaces where you can be at one with nature.

Sports
The area has something for everyone: Surfing, Golf ( Roserrow and St Enodoc), Water-skiing , Wake Boarding, Cow Spa ( St Moritz Hotel), Indoor Pool ( St Moritz and Roserrow), Tennis, Sailing, Windsurfing, KiteSurfing, Horse Riding, Cycling, Trekking….

Dining and Pubs
Again something for all tastes and budgets from pasties to fine dining to Rick Stein. And as for pubs -pubs with a view, pubs with history, pubs with food, pubs with live bands, pubs with restaurants… the choice is yours with many just a stroll away from Wesdale.

Worked in hotels/resorts and tourism around the globe for a number of years, and am currently in the beautiful Fiji Islands I have travelled extensively and lived in 14 countries, but nowhere is quite like Trebetherick. Wesdale has been our family holiday home since the late 60's and we have extended the renting recently from just friends and family. I look after all the bookings and am referred to as the Bursar by my 2 sisters Dawn and Annie, who look after after the cleanliness, decoration and co-ordinate with the local team. Dave the plumber, Rob the electrician, Dingle the Septic Tank specialist, Penny the cleaner, Mrs Lay the caretaker, Hewitt the gardner & walling specialist... Not to mention the Bowshers who do a 2-week spring clean every year to ensure the cottage is in tip-top condition for you. We all love Wesdale and the area, and it really is our home, not just a standard holiday let. Which is why we do all the renting ourselves - and get such a buzzzz with all the great feedback we get. We are committed to giving the best holiday experience to you our guests at the best price!
