The Tower Suite is about 1,000 sq.ft suite on the 2nd floor of this 135-year-old brick home on Big Stone Lake. You'll have your own personal tower & all the comforts of today. We're on/above Big Stone Lake & in town. (Zoning laws prohibit parties & events.) There is a fire pit area & the yard is yours.

COVID: No one has been in your space for 3 to 4 days. You share the stairway (also constantly cleaned) with the Tower Suite, check before entering.

No smoking on the property.

The space
This was a family home until the 1930's, when the upstairs was converted into two apartments. We rent the lakeside & the tower suites. Guests have about 1,000 sq. ft., private entrance, living room (couch) & tower, dinette, kitchen, bedroom (new pilow-topped queen-size, 859 coil count), shower/bath, air conditioning, wi-Fi & cable tv. Recently renovated, this suite provides the ambience of a tower, curved glass windows, wood floors, a bay window with all the comforts of today. I provide coffee for the c.maker & muffins. If you wish to cook, the kitchen has the necessary equipment, & please ask if you need anything. Lingonberry's, a sweets & coffee shop is a 3-block stroll down main street. We live on the main floor and try to be available if you have any questions. There is a fire-pit area in case you'd like to have a campfire& a dock for canonballs.

Where you’ll be

Ortonville , Minnesota, United States

Lakewood Lodge is a great place for dinner, up the road a mile. Our Carnegie Library is a block away. Above are the Nielson Park trails which let you roam through the ravines and hilltops across the road. Many Friday nights Sioux Historic Pavillion (next to Lakewood), built in the early 1900's, is still open for rollerskating. Our 18-hole golf course has beautiful views of the lake and fairways. Ortonville was a turn-of-the-century tourism hot-spot & parts of that time are still alive in our downtown. There is a new art gallery downtown with an active schedule of classes. We also have several antique treasure troves in the area--I have a map. I have quite a few antiques I sell here and on Etsy under the name, Prairiemere. Let me know if you want to stop in downstairs. South Dakota is across the lake & some of the original cabins built for Chautauqua Park, a 1900 campground & learning center, still stand. Their association has many historical markers of interest. We watch glorious sunsets & impressive storms. My pictures of this area are on Instagram under the name: mbtmn.

My favorite things are photography, writing, sculpting, meeting new people who come through this little town & selling on Etsy. Shop name, Prairiemere. I walk everyday, love my family, reading, and growing flowers. I like food, but can't seem to commit to cooking, and always drop everything for storm clouds or a lovely sunset. As a host, I care that your beds are clean and comfortable (pillow tops), that everything is decorated well, and you get quiet for a good night's sleep. I've lived here for my forever and can direct you to nearly anything the area has to offer or know someone who can. We have a 130-year-old home located on Big Stone Lake. It's pretty here, in the middle of the prairies, we are hills, valleys, trees, and water. My motto, I suppose, would be respect everyone and the earth.
