Other things to note
Murphy's Market in the small village of Trinidad is a wonderful full service grocery with some organic fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, and some fresh baked items. There is an excellent restaurant, Larrupin Cafe, about a five minute walk from the house. We love the included appetizer tray which accompanies all orders. For quick hiking trips Patrick's Point State Park is located about 2 miles North of the house. Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, about 1/2 hr. North of the house is the best place to explore the redwoods and Fern Canyon. Hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing are great nearby activities. Swimming in the ocean is dangerous, so we recommend going inland to a river, the Mad River if flowing well or the Trinity river for fishing and swimming. It's about an hour's drive inland.
To reserve, please provide an accurate count, including infants/children and pets to total 5 or less. During the booking process, please inform us if you are bringing a pet and note additional rules below. Safety note: there is an unfenced pond next to the house, so young children must be completely supervised when outside.
Please take care of the house and return it to the same general condition you found it in. Please take out all trash and recycling, and leave the kitchen as you found it, clean and ready to use. Also please bring all towels to the laundry, then load and start the washer. Thanks, this will enable us to thoroughly clean the house within 5 hrs.
Please keep pets out of the bedrooms and off the carpeting. Vacuum up all animal hair before leaving. You can use is a baby gate to block the stairs.
For everyone: Please avoid moving furniture to minimize damage; the floors are easily gouged so please avoid tracking in gravel dirt, and sand. (e.g., rinse off your pet’s paws and the bottoms of your shoes before entering or take your shoes off as we do). Thanks!
Our local manager Cindy Farabi will bring you the keys and will be available if needed.
I love to hike, bike, and swim, read and entertain family and friends. There are still new things I'd like to do in Trinidad. For example, I'd love to kayak in the ocean in and around Trinidad Bay. When I was at UCLA, I spend my summers in Yosemite National Park at first working for the concession company and later a ranger/naturalist. I felt lucky to be able to hike and do easier rock climbs on my days off. To recharge and relax I prefer the simple things especially hiking and discovering the beauty in all wilder areas. My family lives in the Bay area and in Southern California. My kids work in the Bay area at start-ups in the city. I hope you'll enjoy your visit to Trinidad, California
