The space

Enjoy the peace and quiet of rural living in this self contained, recently converted dairy bales. Situated on a rural property you can relax and look out over the horses grazing in the paddocks to the rolling hills.

This is the place to be if you want to relax and sample rural living in the beautiful, northern rivers coastal hinterland. The dairy features a large living/ dining space with separate kitchen and one bedroom with ensuite and walk in robe. There is a small outdoor deck to soak up the views. The bales have been recently renovated and are furnished in a modern country style. They are located at a distance (about 60 m) from the main house which ensures privacy and peace.

This is an ideal spot to base yourself to explore the Northern Rivers. We are 7km from Alstonville (our main country town/village) which has a small shopping centre with supermarket, chemist, newsagents and etc and a great selection of cafes. It is about 20 minutes drive to the beach (Ballina or Lennox Head), 25mins to Bangalow, and 30-35 mins to Byron.

The Northern Rivers is a great place for a break with its diverse culture and beautiful scenery. There is a great choice of small villages with independent craft, clothes and homeware shops not to mention the wide selection of cafes for breakfast lunch and dinner. The beaches are awe inspiring and the Byron Lighthouse walk is a frequent family ritual. The famous craft markets run each weekend with a great variety of local crafts, produce, food and music. Then there is the old fashioned atmosphere of movies at the Star Court Theatre in Lismore or the funky atmosphere of the Pig House Cinema in Byron and the choice of three mainstream movie theatres in Lismore, Ballina and Byron.

Included in the bales are:
Fully equipped kitchen with microwave and cooking top (no oven).
Internet access: wifi and ADSL
Washing machine
Flat screen TV (we only get SBS and ABC reception)
DVD player
Bed linen
Continental breakfast
Ipod docking station/player
Espresso machine

We spent our wedding night at Anne’s, it was such a beautiful, quiet, clean and cosy location. We loved sitting outside and enjoying the serenity and beautiful hillside. Would recommend to anybody who is wanting a quiet weekend away to the business of life.

Excellent place to stay, I needed temporary accommodation for work and this was perfect. As it would be for a weekend getaway.

What an amazing home. It's quiet, cozy and perfect for a getaway. The home itself is nice and simple and has all of the creature comforts you could ask for. But the beauty are the surrounds... you overlook the farm, hills, animals and if you're lucky enough, Bella the resident dog will pay you a visit. My wife and I came here for a mini break from Melbourne and it lived up to expectations. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for a private retreat.

I spent four months here while working in nearby Lismore. The cottage has beautiful views and a lot of bird life (bring binoculars). Due to the vistas, there are superb sunsets and ever changing activity in the distance. It's very quiet and peaceful, except when two herons decide to squabble on the roof! The cottage is a short drive from Alstonville, which has good shops, cafés and a Coles supermarket. It's also easy to get to Ballina and Lennox Head and not too far from Byron Bay. Because I was there for so long, I missed having an oven and a proper stove. However, I managed with the microwave, the hot plate and a slow cooker. However, for a shorter stay, this should not be a problem. I can highly recommend the Indian restaurant at Alstonville Plaza for take aways. I would certainly recommend this place for a long weekend or a week or two.

I stayed at Anne's place for 6 months while on a work placement. It exceeded all my expectations. I could not have hoped for a more comfortable, clean and cosy place to stay. It was a delight to come home at the end of a busy day at work to such a secluded, peaceful, tranquil place with stunning views. I would recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a long-term stay in the Northern Rivers region.

We love living on our horse property in the beautiful northern rivers. We have travelled and worked overseas in the past but now are happy to work our farm and look after our horses. We look forward to sharing it with you.
