Janet was welcoming, accommodating and friendly. The flat is perfect for someone trying to get a little quiet time, with maybe some work thrown in (as was our case), or for a small family. The neigborhood is very quiet, and a 20 minute walk to Harvard Square. It met our needs per…

quiet & quaint location and unit. It's excellent for a couple or single person, especially if they have work to do while in Cambridge with the desk in the study area.

Response from Janet:
First let me thank Ted for his constructive feedback. I always want to hear about issues that arise and have a chance to address them. Unfortunately, Ted didn't mention until now any of the issues that I could have easily solved, and in addition he has accused me of misrepresentation, which if true, is inexcusable. However, I don't think that it's true. Had Ted read this listing carefully, he would have seen the following, honest representations of the (a) sleeping arrangement, (b) the kitchen and (c) the furnishings. (a) The sleeping arrangement is described in THREE separate places in the listing. "About this listing" says "Sleeps 4 (2 in queen bed + 2 fold-out beds." Lower down: "Sleeps 4: queen bed in bedroom plus 2 extra pull-out mattresses available for guests or kids in either the nook off the living room or in the separate study." The bed list states: [Bedroom1: 1 queen bed] [Common spaces: 2 floor mattresses, 2 hammocks]. In addition, 56 photos include clear views of one bedroom, one study and one alcove. Having explained the situation, when I had a choice of 1 or 2 bedrooms in the drop-down menu, 2 seemed like the right choice. Of course, once I read Ted's review, I wondered if I made the wrong choice, but when I asked the next guest, who also had two teen-aged children, he said, "Definitely not!". (b) The kitchen description reads "Contemporary compact kitchen" and 3 photos show the under-counter fridge, counter-space and overall size. The bistro table with two chairs is also clearly depicted in several photos. (c) As for the furnishings, the mattresses, all less than a year old, come from a specialty foam mattress store in NYC. I chose a dense foam for the queen bed since it's easier to make a firm mattress soft than a soft mattress firm. The pull-out mattresses are also high-quality foam. Had Ted only mentioned that he found the beds too firm, I would have suggested padding the queen with the 2 extra duvets in the closet and given him 2 camping pads for the pull-outs. I wish he had said something. As for the House Rules, they are, in fact, listed in the Guidebook that comes with the apartment. But in my experience, not everyone reads carefully and many guests miss them. Also, guests have often said that they appreciate hearing them during the initial tour. If my delivery felt school-marmish, that's something I will certainly change. Thanks for the heads-up. Ironically, what makes Airbnb so nice –each property being unique – is also what makes it more challenging for guests, since to really understand a property takes carefully reading the listing. Thanks, Ted, for all your feedback. I will mention that the space, though it can accommodate 4, is tight. My feedback to you is, next time please spend a little more time on the details. It's not pleasant to be falsely accused of misrepresentation.
