Bessenay is a beautiful, quiet village located in the picturesque hills a short travelling distance west of Lyon. The house is a typical French village house accommodating four to six people.
It is very comfortable and included in the price is wifi Internet, cable television and landline telephone calls to most countries.
The house contains two bedrooms with queen sized beds on the third level and a bathroom with toilet on this level also. On the second level is the second living room and study and a second toilet. On the ground level is the kitchen and the main living room with open fire. We love our house and hope you find it as comfortable as we do.
The village sits at the top of a hill and is planned around the town square. Here you will find a small supermarket, a butcher, two boulangeries, two hairdressers, a pharmacy, a store selling local produce and two cafes. The cafes are very reasonably priced and serve typical French regional food.
There are many walks with in the area and in the house you will find the maps. It is a lovely thing to do if you want a day off from driving. The area is very central for touring. The house sits on the edge of the Beaujolais wine area so is within easy reach. You can travel in all directions for day trips from a family friendly ski trip to the Ardeche or anywhere south. Within a hour's driving to the west you can find very family friendly snowfields for both downhill and cross- country skiing. To the north-east within a two hour drive you will find beautiful snowfields for either skiing or just a nice lunch. Since the tour de France goes to the Alps every year, you will always find an area for viewing within an hours drive and some years even closer. Lyon, the second biggest city in France is easily accessible either by car or train. Unknown to many people, it is the gastronomic capital of France. To get the maximum out of your trip you really need a car but in the next village there is a train to Lyon and surrounds. In the house there is a folder full of day trips to get the most from your stay.
Feel free to use the condiments etc in the cupboard but if they are nearing the end please replace them. We love our house and really enjoy all that is in it. Make yourself at home, enjoy it as we do but please treat it as your own would be treated.
