This cottage was originally part of the Webb-Vanderbilt Estate, now Shelburne Farms. Next to the Farms and Museum, right in the middle of town - walk to a cafe, wine shop, super market, several restaurants. 15 min to Burlington, 45 to skiing.

The space

The Goldilocks:
Built by the Vanderbilts in 1895, this beautiful, bucolic craftsman-style cottage gives you the full Vermont experience. After the closing of the Vanderbilt-Webb estate, this area became part of Shelburne Farms and Museum. This room is just the right size and features the full-sized bed.

Interaction with guests

I am out of town a lot. My brother Daniel lives in the 4th bedroom on the bottom floor. He is there if you need anything.

He has his own entrance and bathroom. You will only share the kitchen and living room. All the other bedrooms are on the 2nd floor.

If you need to use the washer dryer that is accessed through his room so you can coordinate with him.

Clean, comfortable, affordable room in a great location, very friendly host. We'll stay again the next time we're in the area.

Dan was great on the communication front, and very welcoming. He's a good guy. Be advised though, that his place offers 3 rooms on a very small second floor, all of which share a bathroom. Upon re-reading the description, this fact can be inferred, but is not explicitly mentioned. In our case, all 3 rooms were booked, so there were 6 people sharing a bathroom, and because it's an old house, the doors and floors make a lot of noise. I don't think anyone was being rude, it was just unavoidable. Aside from that part of our experience, everything else was fine; Comfy bed, use of the full kitchen, nice shower, and fast, reliable wi-fi. It was a pretty nice stay, though I was spoiled by the 3 other places I stayed in during my 5-day trip. I feel that my dollar went further in those cases, but Burlington is probably a different animal. For the price, it's probably the best we could have done.

This house was a wonderful surprise! Stylish, spotless, warm and large it provided for our every need and more. I felt like I was in a classy hotel. Dan is a great host, offering so much info and giving us lots of good ideas of where what and how. The area is very nice and within easy walking distance of a number of restaurants and shops. Highly recommended!!!

Cozy quaint cottage and a clean room. Host was extremely welcoming. Opened his whole home to us. One bathroom was shared with other guests but it all worked out well. Fantastic stay!

We are brothers. From New Jersey and have lived and travelled all over. We love Shelburne, Vermont. It's a great town that is close to everything.
