Pretty rustic, clean and cozy, with the perfect mix of in-town and out-of-town. Walk to downtown Wassaic on the sidewalk, or gaze at the view sans-neighbors off the back porch. Fabulous veggie garden and two hammocks for lounging.
Four bedrooms upstairs in the main house and one on the ground floor, each with a queen mattress on the floor and lovely bedding and towels. There is also a kids room upstairs with two cribs.
The indoor/outdoor guest room is the pentagonal building to the right of the garage. It has a powerstrip and xmas lights as well as a double camping cot. You can stand up in the space, but there are cross beams at about 5 feet off the ground, so be careful not to hit your head! Outdoor shower is awesome.
Interaction with guests
I'm available via text and through Airbnb messaging from around 8am til 9pm and am happy to answer whatever questions! :)
Other things to note
The house is old so the walls are thin and sound travels like crazy. Just a reality of the space.
The Barns - No one is allowed in the barns. They are falling down and we don’t want them to fall on YOU! :)
No smoking anywhere near the barns or the house.
Shoes Off - We are a shoes-off house! Leave shoes in the mudroom.
WIFI: Phoenix / phoenixandbutter
Outdoor Shower - We’re working on better instructions for this… right now they’re on the fridge...
Gardens and Outside stuff - feel free to use the hammocks, chairs, and tables and help yourself to the garden.
Kitchen and Bathrooms
Wash your dishes after you use them (like, right after)
Help yourself to extra towels if you need them in the cabinet by the bathroom.
Please please please use the FAN in the upstairs bathroom every time you shower (while you shower).
Fun and Games
No cigarettes or tobacco inside the house and no smoking of anything anywhere near any of the barns or the house.
Kitchen and Supplies
Extra dish detergent, garbage bags, recycling bags, sponges, etc. are under the kitchen sink. Replenish as necessary.
Make sure the trash and recycling and compost gets taken out regularly. We don’t want bugs or other small critters. Welsh picks up on Mondays, but bags can be dumping into the appropriate bins any time. Recycling is mixed. Compost gets dumped just over the fence behind the house into the compost pile.
Cleaning supplies are in the cabinets in the laundry room.
TP and paper towels are in the cabinet by the hobbit bathroom in the kitchen.
Heat and Electric
Turn off lights and fans when you leave the house.
In the winter...
The thermostat is set on a cycle that is pretty reasonable. If you get hot in the bedrooms, try leaving the door open (rather than throwing open the window).
Close the windows when it rains or snows, including the sliding storm windows on the screened porch. Check the weather before you leave the house for work, etc, and if there is a chance of precipitation, take precaution.
Take out the trash and the compost.
