I had a great time staying at Alex and Zeena's place!! I really liked the idea and the "spirit" of the place! During my stay in NYC I was able to walk everywhere due to the perfect location pretty much in the center of Manhattan near Penn Station. Whenever you have a question there will be someone there to answer and help you! The staff is very kind and thoughtful! Breakfast has a great variaty!! Whenever I might come back to New York City I'd definately consider staying at Alex and Zeena's place again!

Good location for the price. Ideal to use just for sleep because, as the description says, the room has the size to fit a bed and put your luggage next to it. However, you can use the living room that is very cozy.

This is a hostel, not an airbnb. You're paying for the location, not for any view or amenities. Otherwise, the "room" is slightly bigger than your body. It was very quiet, which I appreciated. The food was fine, but not very well organized - there was no milk for cereal in the morning, until I asked the host about it, and he ran to get some. I never caught his name. When I checked in, I was asked when I'd be leaving the next day, and suggested 1pm, which the host seemed to accept. At 11am the next morning, a different host barged into my room and said I had to leave so it could be cleaned. He wasn't terribly nice about it, but they did let me stay in the common room for a bit, until I was ready to go.

I was late from my flight and ended up arriving at 2am. I was tired and a little worried, but I found the entrance next to the 7-11. After a call I was let in without an issue and made to feel right at home. A truly central place for you to make your home base to explore NYC!

Hi everyone! I'm Alex. My good wife Zina and I will try our best to host you nicely in our cute little vegetarian bed and breakfast place in the heart of East Village or in our freshly renovated interfaith hostel facility in Chelsea. Please contact us, we are here to serve you!
We use the profits from the guest rooms here to provide hot meals for homeless people on the streets of New York City. You may have seen us on the side of Tompkins Square park distributing hot vegetarian meals to the people in need. Since the money you give us for your room is financing the meal distribution program, just by staying here, you're already helping to support this program.
But if you'd like to personally come out to help with the meal distribution for two hours (from 9:30AM until 11:30AM) for one of the days of your visit, we will offer you the bed and breakfast guest room for a special price.
Sincerely, Alex, Zina and their little daughter Gourangi
