My home is located in a wonderful town called Lafayette in the East Bay of San Francisco. The sought out neighborhood of Upper Happy Valley.
Even though we are only 25 minute drive to San Francisco we escape the SF summer fog and enjoy lots of sunshine. The beautiful Lafayette reservoir is within walking distance along with plenty of hiking and running trails. The town has great grocery stores (Whole foods, Diablo Foods, Trader Joes and Safeway) Starbuck's and Pete's coffee along with a few boutique coffee shops are all within a few minutes drive from the house. We have wonderful restaurants and cafe's in town. Walnut Creek is the nearest town with (5 minute drive) with great shopping (Nordstrom, Neimun Marcus, Macy's, Pottery Barn etc) and has a great nightlife and restaurant scene. Moraga (St. Mary's college) is a short drive away. Berkeley and Oakland are 10 minutes away.
We are sandwiched between the Orinda Bart and Lafayatte Bart Station (both 5 minute drive) San Francisco is a 25 minutes Bart ride, and when there is no traffic it's a quick 25 minute drive to downtown SF.
About the cottage:
The cottage is small is size but huge in character and charm. It has a double mattress and all new pottery barn bedding. It is completely separate from the main house with it's own private entrance. It has high ceilings, a small 30 inch round table to work from, a large TV mounted on the wall, internet access, a bathroom with sink and standing shower and great light and views into the garden. There is a small fridge/freezer and microwave for your use.
Separate driveway for your use, Weber BBQ outside the cottage, wine upon your arrival, tennis court privelages walking distance at private Bentley school
You will not have access to the main house, but hopefully the mini fridge/microwave and the wonderful nearby restaurants will entice you!
It's a very quiet neighborhood and private with a large backyard that is adjacent to a creek and open space so you literally only hear crickets at night!
Great alternative to staying in San Francisco if you want to explore Northern California, Napa/Sonoma are less than a hour away, Santa Cruz is a hour, Mendocino is 3 hours, Carmel is 2 hours. Lake Tahoe is 3 hours away.
