A truly delightful, terraced, natural stone-built cottage in the picturesque village of Great Longstone in the Peak District. Oak floors and exposed stone walls add to the character of this cottage, not too mention the wood burner to curl up by after a day exploring this beautiful part of the country. The pretty village of Great Longstone is set in a wonderful location in the heart of the Peak District National Park, flanked by Longstone Edge, with Bakewell and Chatsworth House close by.
“As all other reviews have righty said, this place is simply great! The cottage was perfect for our stay as a couple - cosy in the evenings and lovely walks and bike rides straight from the front door. It was super clean, kitchen was well stocked and the dressing gowns much appreciated. Even after a few nights for our long weekend, felt like we could have easily stayed longer. Would recommend the packhorse pub down the road for great food too! PS. Thanks Sherry for the bakewell tart :)”
Spacious cottage with impressive spiral staircase and super kingsized bed and logburner. Two excellent pubs within 5 mins walk. Close to Chatsworth House and Monsal trail for walking and cycling.
“The place was amazing and the surrounding area was beautiful. We brought the dog with us and it was such a great place to base yourself for walks and trips to the local towns. Stables Bar was great, funky little pub but great atmosphere. Would highly recommend a trip for anyone especially if you have a furry one in the family. 11/10. Homemade cakes were top drawer!!”
A private, self-contained, en-suite annex, next to the River Wye, in a tranquil setting. COVID: Sadly we will not be providing a continental breakfast, milk, tea, coffee, etc. We have temporarily added a microwave as local pubs etc have restricted availability. Direct access to decking & garden so you can enjoy the water, wildlife and countryside. Plenty of walks from the doorstep, cycle routes and climbing opportunities. Perfectly located to explore the Peak District. Car highly recommended.
“I rarely bother to write a review but I felt compelled to after this weekend. I've given everything 5 stars and it genuinely deserves it. The hosts are accommodating and attentive with messages, as well as applying some great touches with breakfast and advice on things to do. The room itself is tastefully arranged without being over the top and it is subtly classy, with a comfortable bed. The view of the stream from the room is undersold on the pictures and really adds to the experience. Finally, the pictures on this listing of the surrounding area are accurate but you really must see them to appreciate them - all within walking distance for even the most unfit and amateur walkers, like myself and my partner! In sum, we got everything we wanted out of the experience and more.”
