To help foster a trustworthy environment, Airbnb requires hosts, new co-hosts, and booking guests to verify their identity, and has clear guidelines on who can create and maintain an account:
- Airbnb account holders must be at least 18 years old. Individuals under 18 are not permitted to create an account, host, or make reservations, and must be accompanied by an adult during any Airbnb home, service, or experience reservation.
- Identity details submitted in the verification process should accurately reflect the identity of the individual operating the account. When we require a user to submit an ID, we do not accept damaged, expired, falsified, or temporary IDs, IDs that are not government-issued, or IDs that lack basic identification information.
- Users should not operate more than one account or use the same personal information, such as a government ID, across multiple accounts. We allow exceptions for some hosts who require multiple accounts for inventory management.
- Our Circumvention Policy prohibits individuals from creating an account or listing to bypass our enforcement actions or to help a prohibited individual or business access Airbnb.
