Payouts by Western Union

If Western Union is available for your country or region, it’ll be shown as an option when you add a payout method.

Setting up Western Union for your payout

  • If you choose Western Union, enter your name exactly as it appears on your government ID, including first, middle, and last names
  • Avoid using special characters, apostrophes, or hyphens in your name
  • Your official ID must match your account info to collect your payout

How to collect your payout

Once your payout method is active, Airbnb will send your payments to Western Union. After Airbnb releases the payout, the payout line will be updated in your transaction history and you’ll receive a unique confirmation number (called an MTCN) in an email. Use this MTCN to pick up your money at a Western Union Quick Cash agent location.

Important: Western Union payouts expire after 90 days if not collected.

Fees and conditions

  • Western Union processing fee: $10 USD is deducted from each transaction.
  • Minimum payout: You must accumulate at least $60 USD before funds can be sent. You can choose to set a higher minimum payout amount if you prefer.
  • Maximum payout: The maximum per Western Union transaction is $2000 USD. Larger payouts will be split into multiple transactions, with only $2000 processed per day.
  • Currency: Funds are sent in USD. Western Union determines the exchange rate to your local currency.
  • Additional fees: Your local government may charge extra fees, which are not set by Airbnb.

Stay safe

Always communicate, book, and pay through Airbnb. If you receive a suspicious message, report it to Airbnb through your message thread or contact support directly.
