What you'll do

I will pick you up at your hotel or a pre-arranged location in the Manuel Antonio/Quepos area. I will then take you to one of my favorite spots for birdwatching, which is in the little-known area of Esquipulas, located in the foothills of the Talamanca mountain. Here we will walk through the rainforest, which is home to a vast number of species of birds, including Toucans, Trogons, Hummingbirds, Manakins, Hawks, Woodcreepers, Honeycreepers, Euphonias, Antbirds, and Lesson’s Motmots. As we proceed, I will point out the various birds, and explain their habitat, behaviors, and migratory patterns. Whether you are a beginner or an expert bird watcher, you will be in awe of the spectacular colors of the birds we see.

My name is Oscar, and I am a certified naturalist guide, photographer, and biologist. Leading tours in some of the wildest protected areas of the country, I trained myself to better interpret the rainforest ecology and bird behavior so that I could share this knowledge with visitors to my country. I also participate each year in bird counts, conservation research projects, volunteering, environmental education, and Costa Rican Tourism Board trainings. I founded Birding Spots Manuel Antonio, and have providing neo-tropic tours of the area for over five years. Leading explorers from all over the world on nature walks is a passion of mine, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and love for birding with you!
