What you'll do

Whether you are someone with no knowledge of cooking, or a seasoned expert with thousands of dishes under your belt, this class will provide you with an adventure unlike any other. We will make authentic Pakistani/Indian street foods followed by a drink and dessert. Pakistani soul music and Indian Bollywood songs will be playing in the background while delicious smells fill the air! All classes begin with an introduction to the spices, herbs, and ingredients of the subcontinent and I will talk about why Pakistani and Indian foods are so similar in their structure. Once we begin cooking it will be a collaborative effort to prepare foods in my open kitchen/living room and after we get done, we will have a communal meal on the floor on a "dastarkhwan" replicating traditional Pakistani family meals. I will choose at least 3-5 items from this list that we could prepare during the experience: 1) Aloo Pakora 2) Veggie Pakora 3) Cilantro Chutney 4) Aloo/Qeema Samosas 5) Bun Kebab 6) Chicken Tikka Kathi Roll 7) Qeema Kachori 8) Chana Samosa Chaat 9) Kulfi 10) Kheer 11) Chai (tea) 12) Mango Lassi At the end of each class, you will be given ziplock bags so you can take the delicious food home if you'd like! I will also send you a PDF of the recipe book if you share your email and using that, you can make the dishes at home by yourse

Cooking Pakistani/Indian food has been a passion of mine ever since I moved out of home to attend college. Sadly, since I no longer had access to my mom's amazing home cooked meals, it was time to stop crying and learn cooking so I could avoid daily fast food binges. Now that I have been cooking for more than 9+ years, I consider myself a fully-blown "desi" cook and I am in love with hosting parties and cooking events. I wanted to create this experience on airbnb so that you can be introduced you to the amazing flavors of the subcontinent while learning a new skill. I love my Pakistani background and if you choose this experience, then I can guarantee a great time, delicious food, and lots to learn! Hope to see you in my kitchen soon!
