What you'll do

The Coffee'N Jungle tour is a blend of Costa Rican coffee culture and nature that includes the following 3 or 4 activities, depending on if is the day or the night tour:

1) COFFEE TOUR
Throughout the interesting coffee process, that ranges from baby plant care to the roasting, we reveal simple but important "secrets" that will enable the visitor to choose a good coffee when they return home.
Of course, we do not put aside the taste of our great coffee. At this point, we will show our visitors the simplest and easiest way to prepare a delicious cup of coffee.

2) MINI CHOCOLATE TOUR
Cocoa has been one of the greatest legacies of our indigenous ancestors, it is the basic component of chocolate which is appreciated throughout the world today because of exquisite taste and important properties.
On this tour, we show you the most interesting aspects of the chocolate in a delightful way.

3)MINI SUGAR CANE TOUR
A very fun part of our tour because, apart from a brief explanation about this crop, the visitor receives the opportunity to extract the tasty juice in an artisanal way to prepare and taste our delicious cocktail called Jungle Juice.

4) NIGHT TOUR. Adventure and fun in the forest at night. The goal at this stage of the tour is the observation of the nocturnal wildlife (such as frogs, mammals and insects) which normally can not be seen during the day.

My name is Orlando Morún. I am a graduate of the Ecological Tourism career of the University of Costa Rica and worked as a naturalist guide in the Cloud Forest Reserves of Santa Elena and Monteverde for approximately 15 years. I have two great passions, nature and coffee and that's why I feel so happy to be able to join both in the project called Coffee'N Jungle Tour (day and night tour).

But in this life we all need a good friend, right? Well, for the past 9 years my friend and co-founder, Junior Ramírez, has been with me at the Coffee'N Jungle Tour. Junior is an expert in everything related to coffee. He knows perfectly the whole process of this precious bean from the sowing of plants through the roasted of seeds to the preparation of an excellent cappuccino.

Orlando and Junior we absolutely amazing! If you are in Monteverde you have to do their 5:30pm tour! They had incredible knowledge of coffee, chocolate and animals. We saw a sloth, a snake, Toucan, and a monkey cat thing. They went above and beyond to make it a great experience!

Orlando and Junior were awesome! They really gave us insight on the coffee process as well as the different roasts, etc. Sampling the sugar cane and cocoa were our kid’s favorite. We did the night hike and saw an active sloth, porcupine, eyelash viper, red eyed frog, toucan as well as a variety of other insects and moths. Obviously sightings of the animals are not guaranteed but it was a great viewing for the evening. Also, you could see so many stars and planets. The sunset was gorgeous as well. Super awesome experience. Thank you!!

AMAZING!!!! Do NOT mess up and skip out on this tour. This was one of the best things (if not the best thing) we did in Costa Rica! Orlando and Junior are experts in their fields and you don’t get more of a personal tour than this. They gave us much more than we were expecting and we were blown away. They start off the tour with delicious coffee and chit chat time to get to know the other few ppl in the group. We then toured the coffee plantation where we learned the hilarious history of coffee (yup you read that right) and the current state of coffee production. We didn’t expect this but they taught us how to make our sugar cane juice!! Next was chocolate making!! We nommed on some freshly ground beans that were mixed with delicious spices and seasonings. We’ve never tasted anything like that before and we won’t until we visit them the next time we’re in Costa Rica haha. Then, we got the low down on different ways to brew and cup coffee! They keep you highly caffeinated fo sho. Lastly, we finished the night with an extensive night hike!! Although it was very windy that night, Orlando and Junior worked their butts off to make sure we could see wildlife. We saw birds, snakes, insects, SLOTHS, AND COATIS that we FOR SURE would have never seen without their help...and all this on their property! We brought home souvenirs from our unforgettable 4-hour tour, like coffee beans and candy. Overall, it was the most memorable experience of our trip. Orlando and Junior’s great sense of humor and their expertise kept us engaged every second of it. They made us truly feel like family and we will definitely see them again the next time we are in Monteverde!

This was such an awesome tour! We were the only ones there on the day we booked Orlando's coffee, chocolate, and sugar tour at "Coffee N' Jungle". Junior walked us through the process of roasting coffee, gave us a little tour through the property, all the while looking out for birds, snakes, and sloths. He was so sweet and passionate about his work and his country. We learned so much about coffee growing/processing and the sights and sounds of the jungle. Then we went up to the sugarcane "mill" where we squeezed the liquid out of a sugarcane stock and tasted it - so delicious with a secret ingredient. Next up: chocolate lesson back in the main building. We tasted chocolate in a few different stages and learned all about taste vs. health. Junior and Orlando were awesome and we learned so much while we were with them. I would definitely recommend this experience! A great time spent in Monteverde, Costa Rica.

We loved this combo tour. We booked very last minute, so thank you Orlando for accommodating us AND arranging pick up/drop off to our hotel. Junior is really knowledgeable about coffee. Our tour went out of order because they spotted a sloth so we did a night hike early to check it out. No complaints! Tour felt very night hike focused with the sugar cane/chocolate portion secondary. Not a bad thing, just was expecting the opposite. They provided all the coffee we could drink! (Thank you!) And yummy sugar cane juice/chocolate samples. We bought two bags of coffee from them and already drank the smaller honey kind. Even yummy when we got home! Wish we wouldve bought more.
