I am a farmer, a lover of coffee and a local expert. That is what I have passion for and my expertise is in the history of coffee and the cultivating process of it. I've spent many years learning about coffee but also of my Puerto Rico heritage and history an how it is vital to the coffee plantation on the island. I am a local and what I offer is a unique view on the islands coffee hacienda.

Where you'll be

We visit 1st the seed and coffee tree nursery. We then walk around the hacienda to see and feel first hand the coffee tree and the beans. After that we go to the compost are to learn of the process. Later we stop at the beneficiado were we show the depulping machinery of the coffee beans and end at the roasting center. Experience ends at the coffeeshop.

Beware! This person is overcharging for a tour at Hacienda Muñoz! If you contact the hacienda directly you can take the exact same tour for $15 directly from them. I was pretty angry when I realized this upon showing up at the coffee shop the morning of our tour. Alejandro did not show up for the tour or do anything at all with our group but he pocketed the difference in price.

So I recommend visiting Munoz but do so my just showing up. Alejandro is just a guy making a quick few bucks by posing as someone who works there and instead books the tour at Munoz for an additional $5. We loves Luis who provided the tour. Alejandro is not associated with Munoz at all, just a scam artist.

Hacienda Munoz is a beautiful spot with delicious coffee and a nice cafe/restaurant for after the tour. We thought the tour was informative and interesting, although I think it could have covered the same info in less time, and FYI the tasting component is very minimal. Bring a hat, sunscreen, etc if the weather is sunny - a lot of the tour is in the sun. Overall, would recommend - we enjoyed it!
