What you'll do

Break loose from cabin fever and get some fresh air and exercise! There is no better way to relieve stress and anxiety than spending time outdoors in nature.

Hiking :
We’ll meet in the morning at the trailhead where I’ll review the trip goals and distribute loaner gear if needed. From there, we’ll get going on our hike where we'll walk and appreciate the natural scenery and the forest’s peaceful ambiance. Around mid-morning, we’ll break for a snack and work on trail skills from knot tying to map and compass depending on your interests. After the break, we’ll continue on the trail, learning hiking tips and tricks, discovering the local ecology, and playing trail games (for those young at heart). How far we hike is totally up to you. I can tailor outings, which generally range from 3 to 6 miles, to your specific requests. At the end of the hike, we’ll return to the trailhead and talk about suggested trips in the region to build upon your newly developed skills.

Photos:
When the opportunity arises, we'll stop to take photos at natural features along the route. I'll also take some candid photos of you and your group as we move from one area to the next. The photos will be a mix of posed and unposed and will be a memorable keepsake for years to come.

Add-on activities include:
+ 30-minute light-flow, outdoor yoga session

I have backpacked and traveled the world my whole life and have been leading day and overnight trips for more than ten years in New England. Whether you’d like to learn more about hiking and backpacking, local history, in-the-field photography and video tips, or a sprinkling of everything, I can customize any trip to match your skill level and interests. I have backpacked California’s John Muir Trail, Vermont’s Long Trail, Europe’s Tour du Mont Blanc, and have summited New England’s sixty-seven 4,000-foot mountains. I work professionally as a photographer and a media expert and offer far-from-traditional individual or family photo shoots at unique locations along our trip. I am certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR, a Master Leave No Trace educator, and have taught backcountry photography courses.

I booked this session for my friends birthday and Ryan was nice enough to make it a private session as it was a special occasion. My friends LOVED the experience and the photos came out perfect. Communication with Ryan was super fast and informative. Highly recommend this trip!

Ryan was so awesome at making sure he captured the perfect pictures and asked detailed questions on how I wanted my pictures to look. He was so informative on the area, and I feel like I learned so much. I’ve never hiked before, but I never felt too tired and felt like I achieved something huge at the end.

This was an amazing family adventure. I really recommend starting the hike out with the yoga session. It really set the tone for us. Ryan is a wonderful guide and host. He kept it fun, interesting and engaging. Just the right amount of games and he was so inviting to all of our questions. This was the perfect hike for our family and Ryan was the perfect host. So chill. Such a beautiful place. And the photography was not invasive at all. Really natural and didn’t take away from the hiking experience. Jen and Ryan are amazing!

Unhappy with the photography. Both how the pictures came out and the process of taking them was awkward.
