What you'll do

First, we pick up some fresh fruit from a local (and familiar) farmer in Ottawa's Byward Market. Then we head towards the glassed National Gallery of Canada & Nepean Point of Ottawa for some superb views along with a few amusing architectural and historical stories. From there we head East past Canada's Royal Mint, Japan's Embassy and the National Research Council to refreshing and power-generating Rideau Falls. We'll bike past the French Embassy and the House of several Canadian Prime Ministers before arriving at the Governor General's Residence where we will explore grand grounds and Canadian trees that have been planted by various international dignitaries, including Kofi Annan of the U.N..

From there we bike to the very unique RCMP horse stables, and then to Canada's Aerospace Museum. We'll return to Byward Market, via small quiet roads of Rockcliffe and New Edinburgh, home to several embassies, then bike over historic Minto Bridges before discovering Lower Town's logging history.

So many Ottawa stories to tell you during this 2-hour leisurely-paced bike tour. A tour that will stimulate your senses and offer you unique perspectives of Ottawa!

Hi, I’m Alex and I’ll be your solo knowledgeable guide. Among my passions are cycling and discovering new places in Ottawa, in Europe and beyond! I'm also a SuperHost for my TopDuplex AirBnB in Ottawa, where I have enjoyed hosting several hundred guests over the years.

In my younger years, I led groups of teenagers on YMCA “Summer Challenges” 7-day bike-camping and white-water camping trips, the windsurfing learning groups were fun. I’m also an engaging university prof since 2013.

Having lived in Montreal and for the past 10 years in Ottawa, I have discovered several gems in Canada's Capital city, including beautiful boat clubs, waterfalls, architecturally-rich buildings, embassies, bike paths and experimental farm treasures, many of which have great stories that I would love to share with you as we leisurely visit them by bike

Alex is a warm, personable and very knowledgeable guy. He went way beyond what we expected. The afternoon was relaxing and interesting and showed us parts of Ottawa that we would never otherwise discovered. Even more so, Alex left us feeling like we had hung out with a friend for the afternoon. We could not recommend him more highly.

Would definitely recommend! I was actually rusty on the bike and Alex was very accommodating. He changed the itinerary and the routes to accommodate my skill level on a bike. I felt very safe! Also has very interesting facts about local government, communications in engineering, and procurement processes for the Rideau Canal.

Thank you, Alex, for a fun exploration of beautiful Ottawa panoramic vantage points. Your bike tour of the Governor General’s grounds and special trees was great. The rose garden was gorgeous and visiting the RCMP horse stables was a treat (and also included a discovery of my first chestnut tree in Ottawa!). So many stimulating stories as we leisurely biked, discovered discreet embassies and explored other hidden treasures of Ottawa, thank you for your personalised bike tour, Alex!
