What you'll do

We are going to visit Peter and Paul's fortress - a place, where the city was born. We will follow the steps of life of Peter the Great and analyze his personality to understand his ideas and motives and how St.Petersburg project was completed inspite if all the obstacles. We will walk around and inside the fortress, see an old cannon and Peter's boat. Then we will have some coffee on the beach in the city centre. In the end, we decide whether St.Petersburg used to be Paradise or Hell for its first inhabitants. And you'll get a souvenir from the Fortress.

I am a historian and a teacher, born in the Urals but deeply in love with St.Petersburg as long as I remember. I used to work at university and college but now I'm mostly on my own with teaching, lecturing, guiding and investigating past in archives and libraries. At the moment I am also working part-time in a local history museum and love it. The last but not the least, I am engaged in two projects which I enjoy - Stpetewalk and Russia in your HAND.

I am really fond of designing new routes and itineraries. For me, history and the past open to you better when you "walk them through". If you have any special intersts in history, culture, art, literature - I will find the way to trace them in my city. If you want to wander and get the tasting of local life - I'm in, too:-)

Vera took us on a journey to the newly founded Saint Petersburg of Peter the Great. We got an understanding for the ideas and dreams guiding its founding as well as the deeper darker realities that actually faced them at the time. She is very knowledgable and thoughtful and made sure we had a pleasant experience. In the end, we had coffee and a treat in the shade of a big tree with a wonderful view of the water. Highly recommended.
