What you'll do

The beautiful La Paz has an impressive geography that allows us to observe the amazing contrast
between the arid landscape, beautiful crystal clear sea and white sand beaches. In this experience
we will start with a guided 30 to 40 min trek alongside a wondrous hill and reach a privilege point
because of the shocking view to Balandra and La Paz Bay. During the way we´ll talk about the
different species of flora that make up the landscape and the life relationships that entangle these
types of desert ecosystems. When we reach the top, during a marvelous sunset, we´ll set up a
picnic style signature dinner with cocktails. After the sunset, around 8-8:30 pm, we´ll start our way
back to the city. For us is really important to be aware of our environment, for which we´ll reduce
as much as we can our impact on nature and we´ll put on practice the philosophy of “zero waste”.

Where you'll be

The hill that we´ll hike is part of the relief that surrounds Balandra beach which I think is the best
place to enjoy one of the simplest pleasures that nature has to offer, a breathtaking sunset. The
hill is 30 driving minutes from downtown La Paz (meeting point) and even though is of easy access
it is mostly visited by the local people and some explorers like us.

Two engaging, thoughtful, educated and inspiring locals led us on this experience. Alvaro and Sofia speak fluent English, which helped us to get answers to so many questions we had during the tour and about life in Mexico, in general. Top it off with an in-person view of Balandra that puts all of those online images to shame and a gourmet meal that even my travel partner, a chef, couldn't get enough of...and you have, well, perfection. Their preparation and communication were stellar...and I feel like I need to stay in touch to vicariously live through the amazing future they are building for themselves! Traveling alone? With a friend? With a partner? With kids? Do this.

Being over 62-years-old and not very active I was fairly worried that the hike up was just too much to tackle. (I wear a knee brace.) There wasn't much info supplied about the level of exertion to go up, and then make the downward trek ending in the dark. So I worried I would ruin the experience for my younger travel partner. Alvero and his partner were so connected to my needs that he walked slowly down with me step by step lending his shoulder when I needed extra balance, making sure I finished our wonderful excursion without any issue. The view, the wonderful food and the company were all quite extraordinary. I will remember Alvaro, Sofia and the spectacular view of the bay and Balandra Beach across the way for the rest of my life. The conversations we shared were both fascinating and connective. The information and knowledge shared fed my green thumb and my soul. The honest, down-to-earth hosts brought home this experience for us both. Now, I can say "I did that!" Muchas Gracias!

This was such a special experience for me and my mom. We didn’t quite know what to expect, but we knew almost instantly we’d found something truly special. Alvaro and his friend, Sofia, are incredibly friendly, while also having a seemingly limitless knowledge of desert flora. The hike was beautiful, we learned so much, and then somehow the food that Alvaro prepared was equally as beautiful as our surroundings - better than most of the restaurants we’ve been to in town. We walked away from the evening with happy bellies and new friends - next time I am in La Paz, I will 100% be booking another experience with them.
