What you'll do
Tour-goers will meet their guide on Tahoe City's Commons Beach 15 minutes prior to launch (2 hours before sunset). We'll paddle South towards Sunnyside talking about Lake Tahoe's History while the sun begins to sink. After an hour of paddling South we'll pause for a brief photo opportunity and then turn around for our paddle back to Commons Beach. As we near our end point the setting sun will color the horizon and glassy smooth waters to deep pinks and purples. You'll get dramatic photos and an unforgettable experience for all!

I am the founder of Tahoe City Kayak and Paddleboard and Sand Harbor Rentals, we rent and provide guided tours at two of Lake Tahoe's best beaches. I've been avid paddler for over 30 years, and have taken thousands of people out on lessons and historic kayak tours. I train every year with the ACA (American Canoe & Kayak Association) and have completed their Level 3 Instructor/Guide course. I am well versed in Tahoe's history, and also in "dad jokes." I think you'll have a good time on my tour.
Where you'll be
We will paddle past the mouth of the Truckee River, Gatekeeper's State Park, and the historic Tahoe Tavern area. You are likely to see multiple species of waterfowl, and stunning mountain vistas.

The sunset in Tahoe is incredible and equally indescribable. My pictures couldn’t do it any justice but the experience will be ingrained in my memory forever. The rest of my tour group didn’t show up so my tour felt more personal and we got to sit and just peacefully enjoy sunset. I still kayaked and got the historic info while really soaking in the inexplicable views.

The tour was pretty cool. I’ve kayaked a lot before, so it wasn’t hard to pick back up. There were some complete newbies in the group, and the group made it really easy for everyone to enjoy the experience. Be mindful that your legs and butt will get wet due to the sea kayaks, so dress warmly!

Andrew’s kayak experience was very beautiful. The sunset in Lake Tahoe was very unique. The coast turns pink and you feel like to meditate. Shoutout to Jesse and Matt for amazing assurance and making sure the group is doing okay and catering to needs. They will make sure that if you are not able to kayak, they help you so you are with the group. Amazing energetic people - plus they give a good guided tour of Lake Tahoe. Very nice!
