What you'll do

This experience will bring you from Lisbon to Fatima and back on the same day, there will be sightseeing involved but also a time to pray and meditate. Remember this is not just a simple tour but we will be immersed in the atmosphere of the beginning of the XX Century when the apparitions took place, the best way to do that is to meet locals, taste their local products etc. The Sanctuary is huge and will take a few hours to visit it, plus you need to add more time if you want to attend mass and go to confession. Do not worry if you are not very religious or not religious at all, remember that we all have one mind and one heart alike. The itinerary is the following: meet at the sete rios bus station in Lisbon at 9AM to buy tickets and take the coach to Fatima at 9.15 or 9.30. Arrive in Fatima at 10.45, visit the Sanctuary, chapel and basilica. Go to Aljustrel the little village where the three little shepherds lived which is about 2 Km away, plus meeting the local people, have lunch in a local restaurant and then going back to the shrine through the Way of the Cross in the Shepherds Way and visiting the Hungarian Calvary, this place is perfect to see late in the afternoon when there are fewer people, in order to feel the holiness of the place. From there we will head back to the bus station and then Lisbon where we plan to be back at around 10PM.

I love interacting with philosophical and theological questions, that hopefully will bring more clarity to the three secrets of Fatima. I studied philosophy and theology in two distinct universities in Ireland and lived in a convent for almost five years, where my biggest interest was about knowing more and more the mystery behind this apparitions. I have lived near this catholic shrine for quite a while and now that I live in Lisbon, I travel there as often as I can, so my wish is to help people that come to Lisbon for a few days to have the chance to see this beautiful city for at least one day during their holiday

Where you'll be

In this day trip we will see obviously the Sanctuary and Aljustrel the little hamlet on the outskirts of the city where Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta Marto were born and lived with their families. The Way of the Cross in the Shepherds Way and Hungarian Calvary is a must to see, because in this wood forest the children saw and heard the Angel of Portugal. Many tourist guides will show only the main sites of this forest, but we will explore in deep.
