What you'll do

Welcome to the Farmers Walk experience: We pick you up at your hotel or at the meeting point at 9 a.m. with an accessible minibus using a lift or a ramp. We drive up to Muncan in the east of Bali, which is around 2 hours by car, depending on traffic.

In the region of Muncan, on the slopes of the Agung volcano, we meet our friend Suar, who lives with his wife Subita and four daughters in a little village. Suar is a local Hindu temple priest and a farmer. He will guide us on a leisure walk through paddy fields and alongside small irrigation streams, where people do their laundry and children are playing. Suar loves to tell you about his Bali, about Hinduism on Bali that is so different to India, about work in the temple and on the rice fields. Of course we have an English translator for you.

The walk ends in a small temple court, where Subita waits with a traditional rice dish, tropical fruits and fried specialities like Jackfruit. Enjoy the tranquility, the fresh air of the countryside and close-by mountains, as you savor delicacies and chat with Suar about Bali's daily life and culture. A scenic drive through villages and farmland brings you back to your hotel, where you will arrive around 16.00.

Muncan area is located on the slopes of the famous mount Agung in the remote north-eastern part of Bali. It is a small traditional local Balinese village, settled amongst lush bamboo forests and dense jungle. Our Farmers Walk leads alongside a small stream which is part of the Balinese irrigation system, recognized as UNESCO world heritage site, feeding emerald green rice fields. Small Hindu temples are scattered around the area.
