What you'll do

Our tours will take the visitors on a journey through the mythology and history of chocolate, while participating in a unique “hands-on” experience in each of the stages that cacao undergoes to become a delicious and fine chocolate.

The tour begins by explaining the history of our company and our socio-economic contribution to El Porvenir, Upala, in the northern part of Costa Rica, which is one of the most impoverished areas of the country.

We will explain all stages of cacao production, from sowing, development, pollination, harvesting, fermentation and drying and relation to other species.

Finally, the customer will see the inside of the factory through glass windows, where you can see the different machines that process the cacao bean to the final product: gourmet chocolate.

The tour ends with a demonstration in the store explaining tempered chocolate, which is a very important process to exalt the qualities in a chocolate: brightness, smoothness, homogeneity.

Very nice small chocolate factory, friendly people, a very clean and comfortable place. We were happy to learn more about the origins and history of chocolate and then taste it! The tour is educational in a pleasant environment. We were able to make a cacao drink right from the dried seeds after hand grinding them. They have an area of cacao trees so you can see the way it grows and the symbiotic relationship with its environment. Later we poured 75% smooth chocolate in molds with almonds and salt. Yum! Highly recommended!! Also Gabriela was very kind to reschedule our tour as we were late due to an airline delay. Five stars!

My sister-in-law and I had a great experience with this tour! We were the only two there so it felt like we got a lot of really good information. It was fascinating to learn about what goes into producing really good chocolate, from the cacao bean to tempering. We were able to taste ripe cacao beans (so delicious!), help make the Drink of the Gods, and made our own bars to take home. Overall a great experience. I'm excited to be going home with chocolate to share with my friends and family along with the fascinating history behind it.

This was a really fun tour! We learned about the growing of cacao trees and the processing of cacao from bean to bar. We actually made our own bar of chocolate! Additionally, we could try many samples of different kinds of chocolate and we helped to grind beans to make a delicious beverage. Our teacher, Rigo, was informative and had a good sense of humor making the tour a lot of fun as well as educational.
