What you'll do

The first half of this day will be spent in Edinburgh's Old Town and we'll find out about Edinburgh Castle (not go in) before taking in the rest of the Old Town. We'll find out about the citys links with literature and medicine, some of it very dark. For those Harry Potter fans we'll see some of the sites that inspired JK Rowling but play other parts in Edinburgh history too.

We visit the highest civil court in Scotland that was the home to a important slavery case in the 18th century and is a beautiful building before reaching perhaps a home of golf and not far away Scottish royalty, The Palace of Holyroodhouse.

After lunch in a traditional Edinburgh bar we go into the New Town and discover Calton Hill with its wonderful free views and interesting monuments before discovering the art, science and organisation of the New Town and what residents of the New Town, especially in the 18th/19th century gave the world. Residents that gave the world important works of literature and opera as well as science such as anaesthesia to name a few.

Both parts of the city are beautiful and lovely to look at to the eye and I would recommend both parts of the city.

I have lived in the beautiful, historic city of Edinburgh for around twenty and the longer I have lived in this stunning city the more I want to show Edinburgh to the world.

I have been guiding in Edinburgh for fifteen years and guided about Edinburgh's history and art with an emphasis of trying to uncover the lesser known side of Edinburgh.

I studied for a Special Diploma in tour guiding which taught me how to take an idea for a walking tour and then route, write and perform the tour. I also studied tourism for 2 years before working at The Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, Her Majesty, The Queens Official Residence in Scotland. I hope this allows me to give you a unique insight to that particular part of Edinburgh's history - The Royal part.

Please join me on this tour. Come rain/shine I would love to show you this city.
