What you'll do

【What we cook】takoyaki, miso soup, and citrus salad
【Duration】2 hours

If you’ve always had an interest in Japanese cuisine, and wondered how you can reproduce some of the Japanese dishes you’ve had before, come join us at our cooking class in Numba, which is 15 mins away from the heart of Osaka! During this class, you’ll learn to cook a full meal from scratch, starting with a refreshing “cucumber citrus salad for appetizer. The dish is versatile enough to become your salad with your favorite fresh vegetables once you go back home. You will also have the chance to prepare dashi stock, and to cook miso soup. Preparing great dashi is the fundermental key for Japanese food as it adds the distinctive savory flavor. Takoyaki is a main dish that you’ll be learning to make in this class. Takoyaki is a popular street food that originated in Osaka. We’ll be teaching you with my recipe that is easy to follow, but will ensure that your takoyaki balls come out crunchy on the outside while remaining moist and doughy on the inside. you will also be making your own sides of Japanese pickles to complement your meal. But that’s not all! You will also get the chance to sample Japanese sake. Don’t forget to bring your appetite!

Meet your host, Terumi

Host on Airbnb since 2017
  • Identity verified
I'm Terumi, a foodie and have had International homestyle cooking classes since 2008 in Osaka. Over the past decades, I've had the chance to visit many countries for my research, and to receive genuine hospitality in each country I've visited. I feel that now it's my turn to give my hospitality. So here I am—I've launched my Japanese home cooking classes for visitors with English instruction. We wanted to share my family recipes to make typical Japanese dishes.
