What you'll do
You will be welcomed into my kitchen to learn how to make Asian fresh spring rolls - a very different and much healthier delicious snack from the deep-fried spring roll most people will be used to. In season we will pick fresh herbs and vegetables together from my garden that you will then help me prepare ready to make the fresh spring rolls. We can then decide whether to keep them vegetarian/vegan or to add some egg, seafood or meat as you prefer. I will show you the other ingredients you need, usually all available at your local Asian grocers or regular supermarket, and then we will go through the whole creation process from softening the spring roll 'skins' to carefully selecting and creating a nice selection of ingredients and sauces, before passing on my tips on how to best roll the perfect creation! As they say, 'the proof is in the pudding', so after we have finished making a batch of fresh spring rolls you will then have the chance to sample your creations and of course take some home with you too for your family and friends to try out. I will provide a recipe/instruction sheet for you to take away with you as a reminder of the ingredients and steps you need to take so you can make them at home in future.
I have been cooking Thai food for around 40 years since my mother taught me when I was young. More recently I have started a catering company with a friend that offers 'east meets west' lunch buffets and dinner parties in the Inverness area (and selling out twice at the two public events we attended), and have also previously been making Thai desserts for sale at local shows in England last year before moving to Scotland. I love sharing my knowledge with people and teaching them to be able to cook something new and different. In particular I like to encourage healthy eating and more young people to learn some new skills and dishes to try for their family and friends.

Where you'll be
You'll be in my own private kitchen which has a kitchen island worktop with a stool for you to sit on, and helping me pick fresh herbs and vegetables from my garden in season that we will be using for ingredients (out of season I will collect what we need from the supermarket in advance).

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.
Please do let me know if you are vegetarian/vegan or allergic to anything like peanuts for example. I will make sure I select ingredients to match your diet and preferences. If you have a Tupperware box please bring one with you so you can take some fresh spring rolls home with you if you like.
