2. TASTE + SIP some delicious and gourmet fermented foods.
3. The MAKING ... choose your vegetables, make brine, understand what makes fermentation work (lactobacillus, temperature, salinity, cell walls, sugars). Learn how to balance salt, temperature, cellulose and your veggies.

4. CHOP, SLICE, DICE + PREP your own jar to take with you.

You’ll get recipes to take home and hopefully a desire to dive deeper into this delicious and gourmet world of fermentation.

Hi, My name is Leta. I have been a fermentation enthusiast for almost 20 years. I love making pickles, sauerkraut and sourdough bread for the taste, health benefits, community, and opportunities in the kitchen. I support the ecological balance it encourages. I’ve changed the lives of my family and many others with this amazing 40,000 year old practice.

I have taught at Whole Foods, will be a chef at Ramekins Culinary Academy fall 2019 and have been teaching in my home kitchen.

I am exploring new Fermentation + Umami ideas: Breads, Veggies, Soup, Condiments, Desserts & Cocktails. Basically, I get joy from making, using, creating delicious recipes and sharing my knowledge and food with others! I allow for inventions and fabulous outcomes! Our focus is on Veggie Fermentation with a hint of info about sourdough bread and fizzy drinks.

Where you'll be

We will be in my teaching kitchen. All vegetables and supplies will be provided. I will have samples of Veggie ferments, Long Rise Sourdough, Fermented drinks and some gourmet condiments.

Things to know

Cancellation policy

Any experience can be cancelled and fully refunded within 24 hours of purchase, or at least 7 days before the experience starts.

Government ID

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.

Guest requirements

Up to 9 guests ages 12 and up can attend.

More tips

Please park in the court across the street or in the driveway of 575 Solano Ave. Be careful not to block driveways. I’ll have jars, knives, and all the fixin’s. You can bring an apron if you like. The event is geared to learn fermentation and is not a dining experience.
