What you'll do

(To accommodate social distancing my tour size has been reduced to maximum 4 persons).
Your nature experience will start from Cleveland Dam that takes you to Capilano Canyon that is one of the Vancouver area's four canyons and offers splendid views of rushing water over rock nestled in a rainforest surrounding.
We will see dam, view of Grouse Mountain and the Lions and listen to the sound of rushing water if the dam is open before heading into the spectacular forest along the Upper Shinglebolt Trail, enjoying the Hemlock and Fir trees that surround you. You can enjoy watching Capilano River far below through the fence or crossing over Pipe Bridge. We will visit 2nd Canyon viewpoint, Cable Pool and Dog Leg Pool on our way. We continue on Coho Loop till we reach the Salmon Hatchery (A treat to explore). This is a good chance to see some of the important work being done to preserve the salmon stocks in this region. One the way to Coho there is a great viewpoint from the Ring Bolt pool; watching the water fall and enjoying the sound.
After visiting the hatchery's interpretive center we continue with the hike to viewpoint of the dam from below. Our Journey is approximately 3 km in length and takes almost 2 hours.

After adventuring, living and working in over 40 countries (Middle East, South East Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa and North America – I have triple citizenship now); I chose to live in North Vancouver as it is a combination of beautiful urban scenery and easy walk through Vancouver’s protected naturally green rainforest. I am an outdoors lover and from most points in the North Vancouver, I am only a few minutes from huge, beautiful densely forested regional parks, rivers and trails. I love to share my passion, experience and knowledge to all nature lover, making them unforgettable memories by showing them secret places that only locals know.

Dave was a wonderful tour guide. He truly loves hiking and what nature has to offer. My friend and I had a great time. This is great way to experience the hiking trials in Vancouver.

Our entire family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers) really enjoyed Dave's tour of this amazing park area. He led us through a series of trails that we wouldn't have found on our own, or even known about. We got to see the Cleveland Dam, the "Grandad" trees which are over 600 years old, plus the fishing hatchery. Dave is a very friendly person, and we all felt at ease the entire time. The hike lasted about 2 hours, and was not difficult or strenous at all. It was a relaxing walk through a beautiful scenic area, and we highly recommend taking his tour!

The Capilano Canyon Hidden Gem Hiking Tour with Dave was fantastic. He is very patient and knows a lot about the Canyon. The tour was spectacular, not much physical strain for a 57 year old like me. I would gladly recommend this tour to anyone doing a first approach to Capilano Canyon. Really worth the time and money.

Dave was a great host and clearly put thought into making the activity something a little more unique and less of a tourist trap. He had a good bit of history to share and the salmon hatchery was a great little addition to the rest of the hike. The sights are lovely on the trail and the grandad of the forest tree was a nice way to finish up. A very pleasant 2 hours.
