What you'll do

This tour gives you a chance to ride the shaded Butler Trail around beautiful Lady Bird Lake, named for former first lady, Ladybird Johnson, a native Texan. Along the way, you'll stop to talk about Austin's historical beginnings to our present day boom as a hub for startups, technology, and much more. We'll swing by the Congress Street bridge which houses the largest urban bat population in the world.

I have been traveling since 2010 and after exploring and becoming a guide myself I now I truly believe the best way to learn about a city is through local guides and stories. I also believe that cycling is the greatest and most pleasurable form of transit ever invented. It allows one to explore the nooks and crannies of Austin in ways no motorist ever could. So by combining the two I am really excited to share the feelings of freedom one can feel in a metropolis and share Austin's rich cultural history with you. : )

The hike and bike trail can only be accessed by pedestrians. It's beautiful!! Lets bike!

Where you'll be

Austin is one the best places to explore on two wheels, and this particular trail we will use is only accessible to pedestrians. We will ride on the beautifully maintained Hike and Bike trail, stop at pedestrian bridge for a masterful view of the city skyline as well as over look Lady Bird Lake, see the home of North America's largest urban bat colony, all the while touching base on some fun stories about Austin's growth throughout its history.

This is a wonderful bike tour if you're unfamiliar with Austin's hidden gems around Lady Bird Lake. Lots of fun, even on a hot July morning. Ride is very manageable but might be a little challenging for a beginning bicyclist because of crowded (weekend) public paths and some hills with switchback turns. I highly recommend it!
