What you'll do

After picking you up from your hotel, we'll leave Fez at 09:00am and going to visit Meknes and its hidden secrets. First, you'll visit:

- The impressive Bab el-Mansour has one of the most elaborate fortress gates in Morocco.

- Royal Stables: The stables was built by Moulay Ismail for 12,000 horses. The stable are testament to the sultan’s love for his horses and the great lengths he went to, to ensure that they lived comfortably and were well fed.

Then continue to visit Meknes Medina, El Hedim square, Bou Inania Medrassa...

Before we arrive to Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, a holy town and the home of the tomb of Moulay Idriss the founder of the ancient Fez Medina, We first proceed to walk up the town on the hill to see and discover its alleys and learn all about the history of this town, to end up upon a stunning panoramic view over the whole village.

Proceeding to Volubilis, a roman ruins even the sight dated back to 1200 years BC, the Roman site are still well preserved. There is so much to see within the site and the views over adjacent countryside are comprehensive and beautiful.
The mosaic floors still clearly in evidence throughout the site, are very beautiful and very well preserved.
There is a museum on the site full of art facts found on site giving more detailed information.

What you will see and learn about the Romans while at Volubilis will really give you a new perspective on life on the outskirts of the empire. While the tour of Meknès was also interesting, it really wasn’t the focus of my visit.

Great tour, recommend it to anyone who's willing to get out the hustle and bustle of morroco. Be careful when entering certain places, as a fee is required

An average trip. The whole trip was lovely but its not what i expected. The tour guide was more of a driver. Little sentences about the place, and just drop us to the locations. So we need to get a tour guide to give us more information inside the Volobilis. He is very kind though, but would recommend other tours.

Our guide was Aziz, not Mohammed. Aziz is a very personable English graduate and we learned a lot from our discussions and about Moroccan culture. The walk through the Roman ruins at Volubilis, its modern and informative museum as well as the tour of the adjacent hillside town of Moulay Idris were the highlights for us. After 6 weeks in cities, it was good to experience the rolling countryside, Middle Atlas mountains, fields of grazing sheep, olive groves and the vineyards that surround Fès.
