What you'll do

Prepare yourselves to immerse into parts of El Yunque that you would have never thought existed. You will have the opportunity to sumerge in crystal clear waters, admire and photograph the most colorful of sceneries, & enjoy some beautiful waterfalls and swimming areas. We will explore around 2 rivers and ravines that are not usually visited by tourists, filled magical spots where we will spend the afternoon. This experience it's full of adventure and adrenaline: We will climb some rocks, hike, get muddy feet, soak up a lot of sun, and be one with nature for a couple of hours, for which I recommend having some basic hiking experience. As soon as we finish our adventures in the forest, I will drive ahead of your vehicle so can we make our way to one of the best gastronomical spots on the east side of the island, an AMAZING and right by the beach food kiosk that serves a variety of delicious puertorrican dishes and more. Once we are there, I will do my best to give you my recommendations as a local, if needed.

Remember that El Yunque it's a Rainforest, so the weather may sometimes not be on our side.

If you’re looking for a guide to do El Yunque, look no further than Shirley. She is a great host and tour guide, she’s very knowledgeable about everything rainforest (fauna, flora and most importantly safety, flash floods are no joke) and super easy to talk to, plus she takes pictures of you all throughout the excursion. She takes you to the off of the beaten path areas that you wouldn’t see with a tour bus, we didn’t ran into any crowds. She gaves me great recommendations for things to do on the island and places to eat. Her English is perfect just in case you worried about a possible language barrier. Stellar host, I highly recommend her.

We enjoyed the hike very much. Shirley was knowledgeable, put safety first, was flexible when we had to change times last minute, and was patient with our children. Would highly recommend!

Well, where to begin? For starters, know that this experience is not an easy hike amongst the wet forest. You will get wet and muddy. Shirley picked me up at my Airbnb ($20 - beats Uber. Also it's not allowed to Uber into El Yunque). She guided us into several locations, and captured great photos and videos for the whole group. Her knowledge of thr forest and river made the excursion so much more captivating. She let us know beforehand that if she wanted us out the river, we should immediately head out no questions asked. Lo and behold, she yelled 'Out!' The spot where we were all sitting was completely flooded within 60 seconds. Definitely would have been carried away if not for her vigilance! All in all, unique experience. All the stars.

If you are planning on visiting El Yunque, look no further! My boyfriend and I searched for so long trying to find the best experience and this was definitely it. Shirley is incredibly knowledgeable and she had some amazing stories. She also makes sure to take amazing photos of you. You can tell she really loves doing this. The hike was intense and we got muddy, but that only added to the experience. The group was very small and we didn’t see any other tourists on the hike. This is truly off the beaten path and genuinely a once in a lifetime experience. I can’t say enough good things about this experience.
