What you'll do

On this 5 to 6-hour exploration, you will discover Palermo Viejo’s culinary secrets while enjoying its food, history, and vibrant street art.

BREAKFAST
We start with what used to be the doorway to Buenos Aires, after a short typical Porteño breakfast. The city’s parks and tree-lined boulevards were first inspired and planned from this area, and that curiously enough is home to one of the continent’s oldest monuments.

STEAK & WINE
You will sample Argentina’s famous steak in a non-touristy location. This spot is a small hole-in-the-wall place that is popular with the neighbors, but that tourists don't visit. They don't speak any English at this place. You will also visit a different place to try the emblematic Argentine sandwich as well as other food stops for a variety of local favorite appetizers and snacks. One of our food stops has a craft beer option and we will have wine with our steak lunch as well.

STREET ART & HISTORY
As we walk from one food stop to another we will get to admire a variety of street art and get a bit of local neighborhood history. You will get to really know the neighborhood and how it has recently changed to how you see it today and why and you will be able to identify several street artist's styles.

I moved here in 1999 from Chicago and I created Sugar & Spice, the first local gourmet cookie brand with national distribution. I also created a Chili Cook-Off contest that ran for four years. I currently manage a gourmet popsicle store. Now, I share my love of food by inviting people to my home for an authentic family-style Argentine asado as my main tour offering called AsadoAdventure. I also run an off-the-beaten-path craft beer tour and now I want to show you some of the great food offerings that the neighborhood has to offer. Take advantage of my 20 years living here to find out some of the great spots that tourists tend to miss.

Where you'll be

You will get an insight into how Palermo Viejo was born and how it has changed throughout the years. We'll visit several landmarks that tourist buses don't cover and eat at some places that tourists just don't get to visit. You will also get an introduction to the Botanical Gardens that you can then visit on your own afterward if you would like to spend more time there.

Frank was a wonderful tour guide and made this experience extra special for all of us who participated. The food and wine and extras were spectacular. I got an insight into Argentine cuisine and some very special education on wines and the district of Palermo. It was a great day with a wonderful guide who went out of his way to make this a memorable experience for all of us.

Frank was a phenomenal host and showed me a great time through Palermo. The 6 hour tour through Palermo was interesting and Frank was a wealth of knowledge on the food, the art and the streets of Palermo. It was a great thing to do my first full day in Buenos Aires to get to know the neighborhood. He happily answered all of my questions and even took pictures along the way - so helpful because I always forget! The pace of the tour was perfect - plenty of great good and drinks, but wasn't uncomfortable to keep walking through the city. Frank was very accommodating and I had a great time getting to know him. Would recommend this to any foodie or tourist wanting to get to know the area and food in Argentina.
