We will be dyeing textiles in pure blue indygo using some cool folding techniques as japanese shibori.

In this workshop, we will:

— Cover the basics of the Japanese art of folding and binding fabric
— Mix a vat of indigo dye together
— Dye a set of two dinner napkins
— Dye a small piece of your own from home (Just be sure that is is 100% natural fiber, such as cotton or linen.)
— Experience the delightful and surprising patterns that emerge!

I am ceramist, mixed media artistand textile/ fiber freak! I love plants — they are part of my life. Natural dyeing is my main craft activity — I use natural dyes in my textile art. I color my yarn for weaving and macrame.

Let’s play together with magial indigo — deep and rich color close to the color wheel blue (a primary color in the RGB color space), as well as to some variants of ultramarine. ... The color indigo is named after the indigo dye derived from the plant Indigofera tinctoria and related species. It has been used for thousands of years and across many cultures to achieve a range of beautiful blue hues. Indigo dye is an all natural and organic compound that is safe for even the most delicate skin. It is also 100% machine washable!

Happy Indigo!
