What you'll do

Experience the natural beauty & iconic scenery of the Cotswolds, from green rolling hills to charming stone villages. Escaping the tourist trail, this guided experience will take you into quintessential English countryside by foot & carriage.

We begin in the pretty ironstone hamlet of Arlescote & discover a pattern of ridges created by farmers in the Middle Ages. On foot we explore a village that sits on the Cotswold escarpment, stopping for a traditional pasty overlooking the historic battlefield site of Edgehill where the royalist army of King Charles I engaged the parliamentarian army in the first pitched battle of the English Civil War. There is a steep climb up the hillside with the reward of a panoramic view seeing for miles & an inn built in the 1700's in the style of a castle by English pioneer of Gothic revival architecture Sanderson Miller. We will stop for a beer in an old village pub dating back to 1775 & see rare breed pigs on the hills.

In pretty village of Horley we will visit a church where the Norman belltower & much of its chancel date from 1180. From here you will step onto carriage led by a shire horse. Riding by carriage along narrow country lanes used by tradesmen over hundreds of years passing farms & woodland making our way to a village with an old abbey, thatched cottages and a duck pond to enjoy an afternoon tea with scones, jam & clotted cream.

Having lived and worked in the Cotswolds for a number of years and a background in protective landscapes (National Parks and AONBs), I want to share my passion for this part of the beautiful English countryside. Guests will discover and explore the places I love to visit, I will share my local knowledge of the landscape, history, heritage and culture. I've supported many businesses across England to development immersive visitor experiences, I know what guests are looking for when on an Airbnb experience. Its the local expert, great scenery, excellent food and drink, the unexpected and the everyday of visiting somewhere new. The Cotswolds has many stories and as the guest's storyteller for the day, I can't wait to share these.

We had a wonderful tour of the Cotswolds with Chris! He had very in depth knowledge about the region and its history, and he knew all the beautiful spots to take us to. We were lucky enough to have a sunny day, and got some beautiful pictures. The pub, distillery and vineyard we went to were superb. Chris was very friendly and easy to talk to.
