What you'll do

St Augustine is home to a wide variety of religious institutions and very active religious communities that have flourished for over 400 years. You'll visit several of those institutions (Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Greek Orthodox) where I will introduce you to the history, architecture, art, and community services these organizations have provided to St Augustine for centuries. Join me as we meet docents and deacons who will share with you the cultural treasures of our religious heritage.

You do not have to be a member of an organized religion to appreciate the workmanship of shaped stone and poured concrete buildings, beautifully colored fragile stained glass that must be continually protected from every hurricane, amazing musical organs, soaring vaulted arches, gold-leaf painted murals, marble accouterments, and carved mahogany pews, doors, and altars.

Take time to listen to the stories of sacrifice, of community support, and the educational and social services that our religious institutions have continued to provide since the first settlers stepped foot on this land centuries ago.

If you are looking for a unique location for your marriage ceremony or to renew your vows, this is also the perfect opportunity for you to explore some of the best locations of St Augustine for your special occasion.
