What you'll do

We will meet at a central location in the Karkloof forest, and begin our walk there.

We will walk in a beautiful, wild, richly diverse Mist-belt forest. This habitat type is rare in South Africa.

We will walk for 2 to 3 hours, depending on the interest and fitness levels of the group. I will share about the forest - trees, flowers, birds, ecology, spiders, insects and anything else we find. I'll also explain some of the area's history, and how different people interact with the forest today. There will be time and space to relax and simply enjoy being in the unspoiled wilderness that the forest provides.

My name is John Roff. I've been a nature guide for 30 years and have shared the wonders of the earth with tens of thousands of people. I'm a qualified and registered Nature Guide for KwaZulu-Natal. I have a special interest in forests, and in the Karkloof forest in particular.

I love sharing forest ecosystems with people - whether you have just a passing interest in forests, or are a professional biologist, I can share these forests with you in a way that will make nature come alive.
