What you'll do

1. Have the group meet at the designated meeting spot; do introductions
2. Take a short hike to the look-out point
3. Longer introduction: my background/experience in photography
4. Tell them what they're going to be learning: the difference between TTL & Manual flash, explain that I will be teaching them to shoot into the sun & why it's so difficult to shoot at the "golden hour."
5. Introduce the model & have her tell her experiences about shooting Into the Sun, both w/ myself & w/ other photographers
6. Teach them all the difference between TTL & Manual, changing their ISO, changing their aperture, finding the correct shutter speed - then combining all of these to create the perfect look that you want.
7. Then I will teach them how to take test shots w/ the model
8. As the group is taking test shots, I will go around & work w/ each person 1 on 1.
9. When I work with each person, I'm going to be helping them find the right settings for their specific type of camera to shoot in manual mode
10. Let them all put what they have learned into practice by taking shots of the model for about 1/2 hour
11. Gather up the group & get their feedback on what worked for them & what didn't work for them.
12. Have each person take some time to go through their cameras and pick their top three favorite photos
13. Download the photos to my iPad and teach them basic editing techniques

Kevin is a professional photographer with over 5 years experience. He is extremely proficient and knowledgeable in the following types of photography: Portraits, Boudoir Portraits, & Landscapes. He is also one of the few photographers specializing in HDR Portraits. In addition, he has become an expert in cinemagraphs (which is a mix between videography & photography).
Kevin's photography has been published multiple times both in print & digital media. His work has been printed in "Maxim" magazine, & his portraits have also been featured on the cover of several magazines, including "Intensity" & "Babe Watch".
His use of lighting makes him a clear stand out amongst others. His expertise is demonstrated in his series "Into The Sun," where he cleverly combines the setting sun as a backdrop with studio lighting to create a dramatic result.

Where you'll be

There is a trail in the Orange Hills that goes up to the top of a hill that has a gorgeous view of Orange County. The trail is about 1/4 mile long and is not steep, however it is a dirt trail with natural rocks on the path. At the end of the trail is a large clearing with a beautiful look-out point. You are able to see the sunset beautifully from the side of the hill.
