What you'll do

Ever wanted to test yourself how those iconic cobbled (pavé) roads are in Flanders?

This route I have designed gives it`s respect to the old and new versions of Tour of Flanders. In essence we ride trough all the iconic hills and sectors from the past and present.

The area we ride (Flemish Ardennes) is the backbone of probably the toughest collection of early season races on the professional circuit. This is where Sagan, Gilbert, Van Avermaet, etc. display their early season fitness. This ride will taste the courses of De Ronde van Vlaanderen, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, E3 Harelbeke - The Belgian spring classics.

The calm before the storm is a train ride from Brussels to Oudenaarde. A 55 minute opportunity to eat bananas, drink a coffee and last minute adjustments before the ride. It all begins at the Oudenaarde train station.

This ride includes all the iconic hills found in the early season Belgium classics. To name a few: Oude Kwaremont, Paterberg, Koppenberg, Muur Van Geraardsbergen...

You will be provided a Ritchey road bike, customized to your measures. Train ticket, gels, food, coffee are all included. You only need your cycling kit, shoes and (pedals).

The tour ends to your residence in Brussels and I`m glad to offer you a Belgian specialty beer at the arrival.

I am an ex-professional cyclist originally from Finland. I mostly raced in Russia (Soviet Union) and after my competition career the love for cycling even grew bigger! After moving to Belgium I completely fell in love with the Belgian style of cycling, the hills, the cobbles and of course to the various quality beers after quality rides. That is where my idea for this experience came from. Sharing my Belgian experience to other cyclists worldwide.

I own the PedalBXL Bicycle Couriers company and function as ambassador for Katusha Sports apparel and RitcheyLogic bikes in Belgium.

Where you'll be

As mentioned we start early morning with 55min train ride from Brussels to Oudenaarde. The actual riding starts there. Oudenaarde is known as the center of Tour of Flanders. Before riding to the nature we shortly pass the famous Tour of Flanders Museum. From there we head directly to the Flemish Ardennes where all the iconic hills are located. The last part of the tour we ride the classic Ronde final: Muur van Geraardsbergen and Bosberg climbs.

What can I say, this is a once in a lifetime experience if you love cycling. First the route is iconic. Karl has the best routes planned and is an amazing guide (but guide sounds less than what Karl is). He met me at my place and we even had to figure a few last minute pedal changes because I have ancient look clips (but Karl had a pair back at his shop). Got to know each other a bit on the train ride, then we started riding. Karl's bikes are great and everything but the cobbles were awesome ;) ! Seriously my words don't feel like they are doing this experience justice. It's not a joke ride and he says that in the description but if you are a cyclist, seriously just book it now.
