What you'll do

Walk after walk, I have started to realize that shorter walks leave a lot of things out.
Not everything in a city is worth knowing and visiting, but for a city the size of Faro’s, everything is at walking distance and I personally believe it should be taken advantage of.
This walk was, then, designed as a complete and concise tour of the city’s greatest architecture and landscape, but at the same time as a way to get to know its most authentic places (i.e, restaurants, grocers, bakeries, etc).
Everything from the major places to the lesser-known local favorites will be covered and combined with the rich cultural references you need to fully get to know the city, its people and its historical heritage while also not being too in depth and grossing a good eight centuries of history.

We’ll be going to around fifteen different places in town where you really experience the authentic culture of a southern Portuguese city, so after this, the only thing stopping you from merging into the local culture is a nice bottle of wine, some snacks and a watch that is (at least) 15 minutes late every time.

Born and raised in the city; have lived here for the longest part of my life. The food is great, the weather is priceless but growing up I only cared about finding the best way to go around it. I believe this is what got me into majoring in Art & Architecture History and why I might be just the right person for this walk, aside from my sense of humour. But that's just my guess. Why not make yours?

Where you'll be

They say there’s two sides to every coin, so I guess we can look at this walk as one of those souvenir coins you can find in major cities, haha. Architecture, landmarks and history on the one hand and culture on the other.
I’d also like to make sure this walk is suited to your interests and to what you’re expecting from a city walk to be, so no too walks are equal.

Ell has great enthusiasm for Faro's culture and vibrant history, as told through the physical legacy. His tour will make the pieces of the mosaic come alive. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about Faro's evolution and being shown the evidence, all in one tour. Highly recommended.
