What you'll do

Welcome! A west coast wilderness adventure awaits you.

We'll experience the west coast wilderness in East Sooke, a premier hiking destination only 50 minutes from Downtown Victoria. Hike part of the Coast Trail along the windswept rocky shore and into a lush green rainforest. Enjoy a picnic of delicious, locally made sandwiches, all while taking in the spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains. Don’t forget to look for marine wildlife and birds in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

There will be the opportunity to see everything from wildflowers to ancient trees, sea lions and eagles, and even petroglyphs and a heritage apple orchard.

We will pick you up at a Downtown Victoria location at 9:30 AM, then travel the 50 minutes to East Sooke Regional Park. The Adventure begins at Aylard Farm where we’ll walk through a cleared pasture to a white sandy beach, past sheltered coves with crystal clear water, over bluffs of twisted Shore Pines and Arbutus. The final stretch of trail will take us inland through the rainforest of towering Douglas Firs, Moss, and Ferns. The whole route is approximately 5.5 kilometres of hiking at a leisurely pace. There will be lots of time to stop, relax, and take in the views. We should have you back to the city before 5:30 PM.

Where you'll be

We will experience the west coast wilderness in East Sooke Regional Park, a premier hiking destination only 50 minutes from Downtown Victoria. Even though we'll be less than an hour away from the urban sprawl, once on this trail there is a real sense of remoteness. Before we head home we can stop at one of my favourite local cafe's for a post-hike treat.

We had a really great hike with Kristyn. We‘ve seen a plenty of different wonderful places during the hike and on the way back home. Kristyn is a very good Guide and a kind person. She explained a lot and was able to answer different questions. The sandwiches were delicious :-). Thank you so much for this wonderful day!

A beautiful and enriching experience. Long hike up the coast of Van Isle with beautiful views of the sea and the coast. Also saw lots if marine and other life, Kristyn is very knowledgeable about the fauna and flora of the island. Lunch is included as well. I made the mistake of not taking proper shoes, so if you do not have hiking boots, buy them before this experience (trust me you need them). There is some climbing and maneuvering around rocks and trees but Kristyn has hiking poles that were very helpful. The cafe at the end was also wonderful. Drank some tea and enjoyed a view of a small pier where some seals were swimming around fishermen looking for scraps. Definitely recommend this hike, especially if you are a nature lover.
