What you'll do

LEARN THE THREE PILLARS OF PHOTOGRAPHY!

ISO ~ SHUTTER ~ APERTURE

Learn to shoot manual with any digital camera, Sony, Canon, Nikon, iPhone - all cameras have these three fundamental tools. This class will help you understand how to use each of them so your photos will begin to look exactly how you envision them. This is not a lecture, this is a hands on training that will cement the Three Pillars in your mind so that you understand a cameras greatest tools.

We begin by switching to manual & finding on your camera where the ISO, Shutter and Aperture are and how to control them.

We will break down the three pillars by testing their capabilities and limits using excersizes. Shutter - I will show you how sports photographers capture speed and how high-fashion captures a frozen moment. Aperture - I will show you how to capture a portrait and disolve the background with your subject in tack sharp focus. Or how to capture perfect focus for landscape or street photography. And the light boost ISO can give you in low light situations or how I use ISO for high fashion to give images a digital grain.

THIS CLASS IS PRIMARILY for you to understand the three pillars, however we will discuss the following subjects briefly: Lighting (what flat lighting is and how to give your images depth), Color theory and White Balance, Lenses, flashes, working with a subject, etc.

From day one, the camera has been a Rubik’s cube to me. Today, I find myself solving the puzzle faster and faster with every picture. My knowledge of photography is extensive and I enjoy discussing the topic and sharing what I know. I have a career spanning 20 years as a working photojournalist & cinematographer in Los Angeles & New York City. I have photographed any event you can imagine from birthday parties to fashion shows, baby showers to Bar mitzvahs and from headshots to fashion.

My professional accolades include, teaching photography at The Boys & Girls Club in Burbank & Hollywood CA. I am commissioned to capture BTS B&W images during Fashion Week in LA, NYC and Miami annually. My clients include Cedar Sinai, USC Alumni, & Art Hearts Fashion. My publications include: Elle, Cosmopolitan UK, and Vogue Italia

Vinnie did an awesome job teaching the basics of photography to us. He researched our specific camera and took the time to teach us on other cameras as well. He was genuinely invested in making sure we understood the concepts and provided pointers for the future. He was very friendly and personable. We felt right at home. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to learn more about photography and getting the chance to take some great pictures in a beautiful location.

I think this was one of the best courses I have taken. Vincent was very welcoming and made you feel at ease immediately. He was extremely well qualified to teach the course and was able to bring the information down to the students individual level. He not only taught but in the process he expected the students to be hands on. I feel that I learned a lot and can go forward using this knowledge. In addition to this experience I gained a new friend (and my wife says I can use all the new friends I can get!!).
