What you'll do

We’ll meet outside Martha’s Coffee on Cortland Avenue in Bernal Heights and walk across the street to my workshop studio space together.
From there, we'll spend 1.5 hours together and explore different kinds of greenery (may include herbs, aromatherapy branches and floral stems) to choose from for creating your simple modern decorative wreath. Please email in advance if you'd like to request something specific you're looking to include. Both dried and fresh (when available and in season) will be provided, as well as learning about the preservation process of branches and stems.
I offer support both in creating balance and harmony of how the process of building the wreath with artistic components can be both an expression and therapeutic process, as well as provide insight as to traditional uses and herbal remedies for the plants I source locally from farmers, the SF flower mart and my own garden.
I hope to creatively inspire your connection with nature and learning more about plants during this DIY make and take memory of SF a more sustainable souvenir together.

Inspired by nature, I have lead outdoor experiences, Yoga: Nature as Healer with a Guide, edible wild foraging and have been a health and wellness educator all over Sonoma County and SF since landing back in the Bay Area in 2009. I even received a Bay Area Green Business Award in 2015 for my own entrepreneurial health and wellness company!

My creative passion from when I had an art studio space in Sonoma County blended with my health educator work brought this experience together for me.

I look forward to sharing how plants, creativity, and the energetic qualities of a circle of health can uplift your spirit as well as your home!

Where you'll be

The experience will be in my studio workshop space where there is a large table with seating and shelves for personal items. All supplies are provided and you are welcome to bring items to put in your wreath.
It has a nice open air feel when the garage door is up and natural lighting during the day. Evening I have market lights strung around the ceiling and depending on the wind/weather, it may be breezy/cooler so please dress in layers.

What a fun workshop! Susan was a great host. She provided clear instructions that got us started, but were flexible enough for us to use our own creativity to design a truly unique wreath. She had lots of different items to select from, so we each made something a little different. We had great conversation during the workshop, got to learn a little about her and share about ourselves. We could have kept going for another hour - it was so much fun! Such a lovely activity to celebrate the holidays as a team.

It was so fun to make my beautiful wreath! First of all, Sudan’s studio smells amazing— fresh cut plants that set the tone for a relaxing afternoon. Making a wreath like this isn’t something I would necessarily have done on my own, and I’m so glad that Susan and this activity helped me find a new way to be creative while relaxing and being a part of her yoga/nature community.

I had the most wonderful time making the seasonal wreath with Susan. It was truly a learning experience since Susan does not impose her knowledge or skills or you but let you craft in your own style with some nudges here and there. The best part are the stories she shares about her community, way of life, the journey through which the flowers and plants we were working with, reached there. You leave the Experience feeling that not only you actually learnt a skill, but also got to know about her at a deeper level and want to stay connected to her positive energy. I loved my wreath and have now hung it upon my door and everyday I see it, I remember about this new skill I learnt and excited about the new wreaths I can make!

Unique experience and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the story of her silver dollar eucalyptus tree and all her other adventures! She definitely makes me feel welcomed and comfortable and that I am free to create something wild and wonderful if I wished! This experience allowed me to go straight into "going with the flow" mode, letting my eyes and fingers guide the creation of a whimsical wreath. Good times.
