What you'll do

We will meet at the river where we will load up into a high quality commercial raft. This is a leisure float down the third oldest river in the world. You will get a chance to relax and get to know the other guests. Your guide can provide you lots of local information on all the great things there are to do in Asheville.

I will have a cooler with ice and you are welcome to bring your own beverages along.

The trip is 4 miles long and allows a chance to experience bar hopping by raft! We will relax and enjoy cold beverages and river views. The Wedge Brewery is open now! We will be able to stop there for a beer and a bite:)

I recommend parking at New Belgium Brewery and taking an Uber or Lyft to the Hominy Creek River Park. That way you can float back to our final destination. Do not enter through the gates at French Broad Outfitters. We will meet you by the stairs to the river.

I am a former Outward Bound wilderness instructor. I have 15 years of trip leading experience and have lived in Asheville since the mid 90's. I have instructed white water canoeing and guided commercial raft trips in Colorado. I have rafted, canoed and tubed the rivers of NC since the 90's. I know how great the river is and I am excited to share it with you.
We have several quality guides that assist me with delivering the best experience possible. Some days I will be your guide but other days I will be leading a hiking or mountain biking trip and and one of my awesome hosts will be there for you instead.

The whole experience was great. Easy to get in the river, which was beautiful. Cody was friendly and accommodating from the get go. He even coordinated with the first local spot we were at for them to open early. Other than that we floated lazily down the river, stopping at another very cool spot. Cody peppered in a some fun facts about Asheville, played music and kept us moving along. We happened to be on the river on a fairly quiet day, a little overcast but that just added to the uniqueness of the experience. It was too cold to jump in but there was clearly a few spots that would’ve been fun if it were warmer. We’re def happy we tried this experience and would go on more adventures with Cody if we come back tot he area. Would recommend wearing gym shoes or teva style sandals over flip flops - not too difficult, just good to be prepared.

We had a great time with Cody! The other people in our group were fun, too. Cody was able to answer our questions and the rain didn’t stop us from having a good time!

Cody was a great guide and very willing to accommodate our large group of guys. Everything went smoothly and our stops for lunch and beer were great. I would definitely repeat this float and recommend it for large group outings.

Spent Friday afternoon/evening on the river with Cody. Excellent way to relax and get to learn a little bit about what Asheville has to offer. Cody was very knowledgeable about the river, the downtown area, the breweries, restaurants and the Arts District. Fun guy to hang out with! It was the perfect way to start off our visit to Asheville. I highly recommend taking the tour with Cody!
