What you'll do

After a one-hour SUV car ride, we'll park by Marco's Artisan Coffeeshop and Organic herbal Teas where we can get an amazing caffe/Tea before we hit the venture! Afterwards, we will head to Labro Castle and walk through this beautifully restored medieval village. It's gorgeous. If possible, you will get a tour of the castle by one of the descendants of the original family, is amazing.

Enjoying a beautiful scenic drive through Lake Piediluco before reaching Marmore Falls. Once on location, we will hike 3 of 5 different trail loops on a well-established paths, suitable for beginner and seasoned hikers alike. Emotions come alive as we venture behind a jump of 165m waterfall, is unique as is the highest in Europe. We’ll reach different vantage points. From the balcony of lovers at the end of a short tunnel excavated in the rock, we can even touch the water of the first and most impressive jump. A true immersion (essential to adopt waterproof) in a unique emotion.

We'll say goodbye at Terni Train station

I'm Cris, ex-professional triathlete, 4th place at World Champions in 2010, 4 years a member of Italy’s Mountaineers Association and assistant of the mountain rescue team. Since 2011 we spend every weekend doing all sort of sports around Terni/Rieti and exploring all surrounding historic towns. I'm passionate about showing others this wonderful area. If it is an enjoyable day out ticking summits or strolling through the villages then I'm your man. I’ve witnessed alone someone with epilepsy having a seizure at 1800m high on a snowshoeing day, I know the steps to follow. CPR course.

Where you'll be

Rieti in central Italy, An important center since ancient times, with evidence of both Roman and Medieval activity. Labro a fortress on top of a wooded hill overwatching the lake of Piediluco and the immense cliff of Monte Terminillo. Marmore Falls built by the Romans in 271 BC to drain the swamps around the Nera River. An engineering feat that has become one of the most spectacular natural attractions of Italy over centuries, unmissable!

3 words abut this tour: awesome, amazing, adventure! I had an absolutely wonderful day out in the countryside and can't wait to go back to the Rieti/Terni area to see and explore more. Thank you Cris for making this such a perfect day - I enjoyed and loved it all but especially being able to drive around and see some of the beautiful scenery of the area. Couldn't have done it without Cris and a car - and no way I would be driving these roads myself! It was great to start the day meeting coffee-Marco (friendly, great knowledge and passionate about his café) and from then on it was just a fantastic mix of nature, food, culture, walking, and Cris's personal touch to it all just made the whole experience even better. Cris gives you options, he takes good care of you and is very easy to chat with and engage in conversation. Thank you for taking the time to get me back up from the bottom of the waterfalls - legs actually not complaining the next day :-) I found it interesting to visit the fish farm, I liked Labro and meeting the architect and the royal lady - will come back in daytime to enjoy the view over the lake even more. Absolutely loved the little sidetrip to the viewpoint over the Lago Lungo, so, so beautiful. The joy of being able to stop for photos everywhere, thanks!! The Marmore Cascades - definitely beautiful and interesting. Cris adds a very personal touch to the tour - many stories, a lot of knowledge about the area and also knows when to have a quiet moment. Just go - this tour is perfect!!!

This experience was amazing. We wanted to get out of the busy city and see the beautiful landscapes that Italy could offer. The road trip into the countryside gave us a brilliant view of all the hills and streams. We enjoyed a local coffee from a passionate coffee artist in Rieti. The medieval village and Labro castle were incredible to see and walk through. The hike itself was challenging (600+ steps!) but completely worth it. Cris is an amazing host and he was always making sure that our experience was what we wanted by asking us questions and listening to us. I’d highly recommend it. Would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to do something different and exciting!

If you adore nature and ready for unforgettable day , this experience is a right choice, don’t miss it! Not reading the full description and coming just to the waterfalls , all day was a big surprise for me since the experience is a mix of nature and cultural heritage ! First you get lost in the nature hiking a beautiful trail for the waterfalls , watching so much green around, several view points provide great sceneries , priceless pictures and mix of emotions . Another main part of the day adgenda is simply unbelievable : visiting medival castle set right on the top of the rocky hill. Made me feel like in a fairy tale. So beautiful and has its magic. Cris himself is a great host , lots of knowledge , care of every group member, adjusting the day according to any arising circumstances. Thank you so much , the experience is priceless and much over expectations !

Chris is a very friendly and enthusiastic guy! We had a great day with him. The trip was really fun, but included much more than just the waterfalls. Chris has many other options for daytrips, so you should check it out and talk to him what you could do together. But you will get a great experience!

One word to describe the experience, awesome! It exceeded my expectations and beyond, why? Because Chris will do his best to make it awesome, he is a really interesting combination of fun, funny, friendly, and fantastic. You can tell he doesn't do it for the money, he genuinely wants you to have a good time. At the beginning Chris might be the tour guide, and then he will turn to your Airbnb experience host, then you will totally forget about this whole thing and he will be more like a friend. Now, about the experience, you will enjoy nice conversations about anything and everything, you will have a nice ride, he will tell you things that only a real Roman would know, jokes and stories and everything else. You will eat very tasty food, freshly made for you, drink the best coffee and have some nice deserts, you will see things, go to places that you will feel like you have the whole place for yourself. You will laugh, shout, sweat and get wet, you will have fun and run. A Waterfall, Mountains, Lakes, Hotels, Coffee shops, Churches, Castles , Small towns, Barbecue, Fountains and everything in between. This experience is much more than what it says, you will love it and at the end of the day you will make an awesome friend! Thanks Chris, you're awesome.

Where do I begin--this was such a fun way to spend a day outside Rome. Cris gave us a tour of Rieti, the local market, a medieval town (Labro) and the main attraction--the waterfall, which we climbed down and then up. Lots of steps. Got soaked--no problem--it was fabulous and fun and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Cris was very engaging and friendly--could not have had a better guide. I'll be signing up for the Monte Trebillo hike on my next trip.
