This was a great one on one guide through the Medina and Old Town areas of Casablanca. Mohamed was knowledgeable and explained some of the history as we walked. We started at United Nations Square and walked around some of the French areas of Casablanca before turning towards the medina. We stopped by a market that was mainly closed, but still a 10 Dh sample of oyster made the stop have some memory. Moving on we found the more open and popular medina in the walled city. It was nice to walk through as we made our way to a venue for food. I paid for both of us to enjoy a tea, fruit juices, pancake, egg, dates, and Hirara. Price was affordable, 90 Dh/person. We stopped by the touristy Rick's Cafe but since we just ate I didn't fancy purchasing anything so we weren't allowed in. No bother there, it only exists because of a film, not the other way around. We walked through a more 'local' area where I was advised to keep moving and that large tourist groups are not allowed. It was a pleasure to see all aspects, even if it's not shiny and clean... it made the walk feel real. Afterward we made our way back to the square and said our goodbyes. While advertised for 90 minutes, with the food meal it was closer to 2 hours. I learned some things, ate some food, and saw all angles of the small section of this metropolis. Mohamed was kind and always taking suggestions. I was asked a lot of "What do you want to do" but having never been here before, I didn't know the answer to that question. I recommend this tour as a quick local guide, and someone who's offered to assist during my time in Casablanca. I suggest doing a little research ahead of time and knowing what you want to see, Mohamed will ensure you get there. Plus he even recommend places for the rest of my trip. Thanks!!
