What you'll do

Captain Andrew awaits at the marina dressed in full pirate regalia. He will welcome you aboard the longboat, Pilgrim, to venture out to the anchorage where Mayflower is moored. Mayflower is a Brigantine Ketch made entirely of teak in the true buccaneer fashion!

Once aboard, we will unfurl the sails and make way through the harbor and into the Pacific to enjoy coastal ocean views, while you enjoy provided snacks and beverages. You can feel free to sit back and enjoy the sail from Mayflower's spacious deck or try your hand at steering and trimming her sails!

Andrew and the crew will provide entertainment by telling tales of the pirates of old, singing Sea Shanties, and providing appropriately themed games as passengers desire.

We will return to the harbor as the sun drops to the horizon and moor to enjoy the sunset over Balboa Peninsula before returning to the marina via longboat to say our farewells.

*Each sail can accommodate up to 6 passengers

Sailing is my passion, my life and my career! I caught the sailing bug at the age of eleven and have been at it ever since! I grew up in the Sea Scouts program, raced for my High School's Sailing Team all four years of school, and taught sailing (even directed the sailing program) for ten years before completing my captain's license and starting my own sailing excursion business. I love being on the water and sharing that experience with others!

I've spent the last 18 years working in restaurants and coffee shops, but sailing captured my heart and now I can't give it up! Captain Andrew taught me everything I know, and will soon be sending me to get my Captain's License so I can continue sharing my newfound love of being out on the water.

Where you'll be

Aboard Mayflower there is a large amount of open deck-space to lounge and enjoy the sunshine and sea breeze. There is also a protected pilothouse inside which you can enjoy the view but don't have to be out in the elements. Below decks Mayflower is equipped with a full galley (kitchen) and two heads (restrooms). She also has many interesting nooks and crannies full of fine craftsmanship and nautical equipment to appreciate and learn about!

This was a beautiful experience. Andrew was sure to give us all the details before the trip so we could have what we needed before setting sail. He was patient as we adjusted to our sea legs and was happy to share how the different parts of the boat/rigging work. We also got to see a lot of sea lions and even a pod of dolphins! It was a great experience that was well-captained and one I would definitely repeat!

Definitely one of the coolest boats you can sail on. The classic sailing ship/pirate ship aesthetic is truly unique, so much so that you'll note other sailors taking pictures of you. Staff is friendly, conversational(if desired), and competent. Don't make my mistake and underestimate your potential for sea sickness. Just take the full dose of dramamine and get some sun and sea.
